Guest guest
, I am considering having a TURP done and would appreciate your input. Long and short term problems with it especially. I have talked to my oncologist about having this done, but am still sceptical since he cannot say whether it will work or not or if it will even last. I would really like to be able to get rid of this catheter, (since Oct. '09) but have to wonder if having the Turp is worth the negatives that go along with it. The other big concern is incontience after having the proceedure. Dave H. I had BPH and underwent TURP 5-6 years ago. Symptom of BPH have been returning and I have asked my doc to refer me to urology for possible re-TURP, but the laser kind. Before that, I would want prostate biopsy (have had three of those over the years) just to make sure.On Jan 6, 2011, at 8:18 AM, ProstateCancerSupport wrote:> There is no difference whatever age with concern when a man's PSA is> 2.5ng/ml or higher. Guest guest
,I've never had a TURP and can't recommend for or against it. I will sayhowever that, if you get it done, interview the urologist carefully. You want a guy that strikes you as committed, careful, and concerned abouthis patients, and ideally one who has done a fair number of them.I also think you would definitely want either the green light laserversion or the thermotherapy version. See:http://urology.ucla.edu/body.cfm?id=118 & oTopID=18Best of luck.
