The SCD is meant to be used in conjunction with traditional medicine. You, along with your doctor, have to decide what is best for you. Elaine did prefer sulfasalazine. Does anyone know how Lialda fits in with the SCD? From what I've read,

Asacol is not necessarily illegal (or maybe it is, but OK if medically

necessary), but the websites seem to say that Elaine "preferred"

sulfasalazine.

I asked my doc about sulfasalazine, but she said it had basically been

replaced by mesalamine (Asacol). I wonder if Lialda would be more SCD-

friendly. Once a day would certainly be nice!
