Guest guest
Hello Everyone: I was wondering if anyone is still taking glucosime, condroutin or msm after a resurf? I use to take these before my resurface. I have not taken them since. I know my other hip has some sign of osteo- arthritis, but feels good. I may never need to resurf the other hip. I would like to know if anyone has heard anything good or bad. Sincerly Joe B.
Guest guest
Joe, I'm just 62 years old and was resurfaced 8 months ago by Dr. Mont. Now I'm back to unrestricted activity again, mostly as a squash player. My shoulder has shown evidence of arthritus and my knees as well. My other hip will never need resurfacing he said. At my 6 week post-op checkup I asked Dr. Mont's second, Dr. Rajaducksha (not his spelling but more phonetic) about the value of taking glucosamine chondrioten. He said that it worked for many people and that I should try it for 60 days to see if it worked for me. He said that there is a lot of variability between brands and that I should get Cosamine DS brand. I found a web site that sells it for about $67 for 210 capsules - a big saving from drug store prices. It made a noticable in the level of pain in my shoulder and it is my understanding that, while it won't repair damaged cartiledge, it will slow the rate of deterioration. If you are showing signs of osteoarthritus I would consider it as a delaying action to prolong your activity level.

Eat the cartilage off of chicken bones for free. The first trial of supplimentation was done at Harvard and they used ground up chicken cartilage. It works. In addition to my hips, I use to suffer from arthritis of the left knee and had severe carpul tunnel in my wrists. Chicken cartilage cured everything but the hips (due to birth defect, nothing could stop the destruction). Ladies, please note that my wife and daughter are both jealous of my strong and beautious finger nails. They dont split or break and can be used as a screw driver in a pinch.
