Karyn -

I am the one very close to taking injections of Depo-Lupon to see if my

pancreatitis attacks are related to my menstrual cycle. When I mentioned

that my bad attacks happen either during or right at the end of my period, my

endo. said " Lets just stop your period and see what happens " My gastro. doc.

does not believe me that it happens to be exacerbated by my period. You see

I am trying to avoid surgery at all costs. I am just afraid of hormones too.

So, there it is. I think the HMO called the prescription into my pharmacist,

and I have to do SOMETHING.

Thanks for reading, Staci

Hi Staci!

I am not sure if this is related but just though I would throw this out there

because no one seems to be able to give me a reason for this(par for the

course LOL) Before I was hospitalized last year with pancreatitis, I had

NEVER had normal periods. I would sometimes go for years without having one.

I had always been under the impression that the irregularity was due to my

underactive thyroid condition. In 1991 I developed cervical cancer and had

to have a section of it removed and they said it was due to not having

periods regularly. Since I awoke from the coma last year, I have had a

period every month. At first there wasn't a whole lot of discomfort with

them but now they practically kill me each month! I don't know if the

medications I am taking have contributed to this or what. I asked the doctor

if he could go in and flip the OFF switch that he somehow turned to ON! ha

ha ha I know that this is not a bad thing for me to have though-I just got

married in March and my husband and I would LOVE to be able to get pregnant.

Maybe this is just another one of my blessings in disguise! Just wondering

what could have triggered it!

Maybe not having normal periods added to my pancreas probs in the first

place. Don't know.

Thanks for listening!

Hugs,

(Indy)
