Another board I follow has several women with RA who have had children after getting RA and others trying to conceive in spite of RA. http://www.arthritisinsight.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=13 If you don't get enough help here you might try the other board. God bless your friend and also bless you for seeking help for your friend.

Subject: pregnancy Q, posting for best friend...

A dear friend of mine has recently been diagnosed with RA, as in the past three days. She is only 24 years old and has yet to have any children. She and her husband have the intentions of having children in the near future. She is not yet pregnant. She is concerned about he affects of RA on a pregnancy and whether or not she is able to treat the RA with any medications if pregnant. Does anyone have any eperience or knowledge on this subject?I told her I would search the web for any info. Any links would also be appreciated as I myself know very little about this condition.Thank you all so muchAmber for

Hi Amber & , my name is and I am also 24 with RA and have hopes to have children in the future. I run a social support group for young people here in Vancouver and have talked in great detail with the members about arthritis and pregnancy, especially now since one of our members has a new baby girl. Most of what I have heard about arthritis and pregnancy is that you go into remission while you are pregnant and breast feeding. I laugh with my mom that I should get pregnant just so I can have a break from my arthritis. There is a message board on the arthritis society webpage specifically for parenting and arthritis, which talks alot about pregnancy... should check it out. The site is www.arthritis.ca and you should look on your left where it says OPEN FORUM COMMUNITY and click on it and follow the steps until you get to the discussion boards. I am sure that there are other boards out there for this specific topic it would just take a few minutes looking on the net (google search?). If you or ever wants to talk you can email me SocialCrew@... and if you live in Vancouver, BC or surrounding areas you should come out to one of our meetings... they are super fun and informative.

Hope to hear from you soon! (PS: Just did a google search on arthritis + pregnancy and got tons of response)

Maybe check this out. possible to have arthritis and a baby, too? You bet — if you take some special precautions. Here's what you need to know if you're expecting a baby now or just thinking about it. LINK: http://www.arthritis.org/resources/arthritistoday/2001_archives/2001_03_04_pregnancyprognosis.asp
