My problem with the injections is it is supposed

to be the same / similar medication as Muse, the suppository. All it really

does for me is give me an hour to two hours of discomfort and a slightly inflated

penis. The discomfort is enough to make it difficult to even think about using

it. I don’t know if the injections will be any better, for me at least.

Pat --

Syringes are about 40 cents each.

Trimix needs refrigeration. Bimix (which is trimix, without the prostaglandin)

can last for weeks at room temperature. But even bimix lasts longer in the

fridge.

Your local pharmacist won't have either of those.

But many " compounding pharmacies " (some of which are mail-order

pharmacies) can make up the mixtures. There's no magic in them, they use

widely-available drugs. And they're not very expensive if you buy 5 ml vials

and fill your own syringe before use. [some doctors pre-load syringes -- _that_

gets expensive.]

I think that injection therapy is way, way under-prescribed. Men don't ask for

it, and doctors don't offer it.

After the first successful injection, and the resulting erection,

.. . . " Stick a needle in my penis ????? "

often changes to

.. . . " Stick a needle in my penis !!!!! "

Terry, Thank You, Thank You, and many Thanks as well to both Stephan Wilkinson and Crandell for the two absolutely excellent articles regarding dealing with the after-effects of loss of neurovascular bundles and subsequent impotence/loss of erectile capability. This should be required reading for all couples experiencing this unfortunate side effect of prostate cancer treatment. Stephan and ’s remarks were right on target on what my wife and I experienced many years ago and learned to accept, understand the true meaning of intimacy, and get on with our lives. While reading I experienced both hilarity and sadness, but in summary, relief that someone was able to put into words what I had hoped all who go through these experiences could read. I don’t know if this will help or not, but husband and wife duo Stephan Wilkinson and Crandell wrote pieces describing their feelings after Stephan experienced ED. They gave me permission to put the pieces on my site. They are at http://www.yananow.org/MechanicalFailure.htm and http://www.yananow.org/WhatSex.htm respectively. As you may be aware, there are also Discussion Forums dealing with this issue – some are listed at http://www.yananow.org/mailinglist.htm (just page down). When I was diagnosed back in 1996 there was a man who, like you was enraged by his loss of ‘manhood’ – so much so he used to post as Half-Man. Years later I came across him on FaceBook of all places. He has come to accept the way he is and enjoys a great life – mainly doing ‘manly’ things like fishing, hiking, hunting, parachuting. I guess he does this to prove to himself and the world that men are not linked solely to their power to have an erection. I hope you find a way through the thicket of your rage.
