There is also some background information. The btinternet address is now defunct, but I can be contacted on Yahoo & telephone number below. In the last five years I have been enjoying +AM and researching prostate cancer. I published an updated version of my findings in 2009 and I will be publishing a newer version in the near future. In the course of my research for the new book I learned that radiopharmaceuticals are not generally available in the UK on the NHS for treatment of advanced bone metastases. That shocked me to the extent that I am campaigning for a change of policy. I repeat, Metastron and Zometa are not available on the British NHS. This means that advancerd cancer patients with bone metastases have to endure external beam (EBXRT) radiotherapy in the last few months of life to palliate pain. EBXRT has side effects and requires separate medication to manage. All in all an uncaring and inefficient way to deal with the last few months of life when patients' dignity should be respected. Metastron, and Metastron combined with Zometa, are both superior to EBXRT for reducing bone pain and extending life. The information at the following link can be used freely by individuals or charitable organisations to pressure their PCT for Metastron / Zometa on the NHS. www.fitcare.org.uk/general/ The paper, which outlines the evidence based reasons why Metastron is superior to EBXRT may be used by anyone wishing to promote the availability of Metastron and Zometa under the British NHS. Americans in President Oama's new social care system may find the British NHS Metastron experience useful. This limited open access is made provided the paper is quoted in its entirety and due acknowledgement is given to the author. > > > > > > The moderators were having a debate about this site (the yola url) earlier and thought it too commercial, I wonder what you all think, please reply off group to bryan.metcalf@ > > > > > > > > > > > > Cancer information site -- Interesting for starters. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Interesting for starters, and well worth a look around. However it is a bit superficial in the areas I personally feel competant at judging, lacking depth of detail. The black background gives it a somewhat dramatic, Gothic look.
