Guest guest
I visited Joyce today and was going to post, but after reading Peggy's updates now I'm confused. I'll just go ahead w/ what I was going to post. I visited today from about 4:30-7... I could have sat there all night talking to Joyce and her wonderful husband. It was really a pleasure to meet him and we just talked and talked about everything. While I was there she did find out that she gets to stay in her nice private room in the TMU instead of ICU so she was so relieved. Her nurse had really been working on her behalf and came in w/ that update and told her about a blood thinner, she said actually rather than a blood thinner like coumadin, it was to prevent clots. It was a shot they had to give her in the stomach. Luckily, she didn't have too much time to worry about it as the nurse came back soon and administered it. Joyce said she did good though and it didn't hurt. She's tougher than me. I think that's what Peggy was referring to giving her a hot flash. She said she was feeling warm after it and we figured it was par for the course as it would dilate or open up the blood vessels. The Flolan was supposed to start tomorrow and as I left just before 7 the pharmacy expert on Flolan came in to give them all the details on it. I left so they could focus on that. Joyce had some printed info on it and we quickly reviewed it before I left and discussed it vs. Revatio and Tracleer (apparently they did try those on her w/ not enough of a response). I checked to see that it had basically the same info Tina had posted. I told her I'd posted my half info and Tina had filled in the gaps. She needs this Flolan I guess to adequately reduce the PH. Joyce and Lucian were set to do the 20 questions w/ this expert regarding side effects, risk, how it's administered, etc. I sure wish there was a less scary treatment. I wish a lot of things. Anyway, it seemed as though things were finally getting on track at the hospital and her wonderful husband is taking good care attending to what she needs. I will check back in and hopefully get over there again. It was just really nice to visit with them and have a great chat regardless of the hospital surroundings and circumstances.
