Guest guest
Hello I am 4months pregnant, and I had my wls in April 2000. My question is has anybody had been told they are measuring large, or the baby is high, because of the surgery? I had on US around 10wks, so my midwife thinks it would be rare if they missed a twin, but she would be thinking it was a twins if not for the US. I began to wonder about twins because the movement I have felt is either really high, or really low. Oh well, I guess I will end up with another US, when I really didn't want one, and be tempted to find out if is a girl or a boy.Is there any info online about pregnancy after wls? I plan on calling my surgeon too. Mellisa
Guest guest
No....I haven't heard of this. Most pregnancy after wls are " textbook " pregnancies. My PCP had a baby......TODAY! come to think of it. She had a scheduled c-section, anyway, she's never had wls or anything like that, but at 3-5 months she was measuring very big. In fact, they knew at five months that she would be having at least a 9 " pounder " . I can't wait to hear the official weight. So, it's possible to just have a big baby. Also, I do know that gestational diabetes can contribute to having a very large baby. Dee P.G. Measuring large? > Hello I am 4months pregnant, and I had my wls in April 2000. Guest guest
My last pregnancy in 98 (before surgery) I was told I was huge measuring very high and had an u/s which ruled out twins. Some folks are just like that .. in the end I only delivered an 8 lb baby. Good luck! Lyssa --- Homeschl@... wrote: > Hello I am 4months pregnant, and I had my wls in April > 2000. Guest guest
What (if any) is the average size of wls babies? Lyssa __________________________________________________
Guest guest
, I do not know if it is because of the surgery or if it is just me. At 19 weeks my doctor was " shocked " at how large my uterus was and how high it was. He was betting on twins. It was not due to a large amount of weight gain because at that point I had only gained about 3 pounds. When we had established that it was just one baby, he said that perhaps my dates were wrong. Then, we established that with the measurement the dates were right on. I am just carrying very " large " and high. I have a weird protrusion above my uterus that he could not explain. It is not a hernia, I think that it is my stomach. I do not know if any of this helps but you are not alone. I am 28 weeks now and to me I still look larger than I expect with a normal weight gain. Guest guest
Dear Lyssa, Do not know average size of wls babies - but here are my presurgery & post surgery facts: Presurgery: 8 lbs born at 41 weeks, 3 days, boy 8 lbs 5 oz born at 42 weeks, boy 7 lbs 8 oz born at 39 weeks, 6 days, girl (induced) Post surgery: 7 lbs 3 oz at 40 weeks, 5 days, boy Weight gains with #1 & #3 were about 20 pounds, following 20 pound losses during first weeks. #2 was 48 pound gain. #4 (post surgery) was 30 pound gain. So post surgery baby was a bit smaller, despite good weight gain during pregnancy. His weight gain in first month is excellent, and he is totally breastfed. ) BTW - my weight during the pregnancy with #3 was highest of the four - and I developed severe preeclampsia with her, leading to induction. NO such problem with #4. That MAY be because of weight loss. I was relieved and very happy since preeclampsia would have forced us to abort plans for home birth. Pam T. Guest guest
Dee, We are almost due on the same day. I am goping for the end of November but no later than the 5th. How is your pregnancy going? I am really enjoying this time because I really look pregnant and I still feel good. Good luck. Guest guest
So far so good, . I have had a bout with anemia recently. No wonder I'd been feeling like I'd been hit by a train.(smile) Also, it explains why my appetite was decreasing instead of increasing. Anyway, I've " upped " my iron, and I should be ok. Needless to say, I haven't really been enjoying being pregnant. I can't wait for my " pun-kin " , though. Oh.....I'm just beginning to look somewhat pregnant. I'm still a " big gal " .(Thank God I'm not as big as I used to be :-) Have you picked out any names? Dee P.G. Re: Measuring large? > Dee, > We are almost due on the same day. Guest guest
Dee, How did you find out that you were anemic? My doctor hasn't ordered a CBC but I feel VERY tired. Is that how you felt? I have been a nurse in the Pediatric ICU for 7 years. However, when it comes to me and my pregnancy, I feel like I know nothing. It is so different when we are dealing with ourselves. We have chosen the name for our son. The middle name is still open. I want Christian he wants Spencer. I can live with either. So I guess I will pass along that info to my midwife. I'm sure I will be having another US now. I have still only gain about 5 lbs even though I am eating, and getting a large tummy.
