Guest guest
I recently had this treatment by an Osteopath who specializes in Manipulative Medicine. I am 82, and I could not take in more than a moderate amount of air. I am on 3L O2 24/day. Before this treatment, I got winded going out to get a CAT scan. The day I got this treatment, I started at 8:00 am and I did not get home until after 7, and I was not winded or exhausted. I was more alert, more energized, and my body was not as cold. The reason this treatment helped me was my ribcage and my muscles were tight and out of alignment. Coughing aggravates these problems. With not much more than gentle touching and stretching, this doctor was able to increase my breathing capacity. Today, I am a little tired and my muscles in the front of my chest are sore. That means I am using them more than I had been. I still feel better. While there is no guarantee that this will help others, is is a conservative measure that I imagine others have not tried. It will not make what is happening in the lungs worse, and it might increase the oxygen you can take in. I don't know how much information there is on this treatment on the internet, but it is a typical treatment an osteopath would do. Find one that only does manipulation. This is not hard cracking and jerking joints around. It is very gentle. Please let me know if anyone tries it and it helps. Good luck!
