In need a New Rheumatologist

Hi & Good Morning to All,

I need a good Rheumatologist in the US. I will no longer be seeing the current one as I got accused by her of sending her pornographic material. Which instead a I had send her an e-mail stating the CT report she was asking for, they tested me for the wrong thing and I'm still waiting for the Head of CT Department to re-read the CT and that I'm rapidly losing weight so far I have lost 22 pounds. Yes, people...you read it right.

She was told when her hand was so swollen to email a picture to the

rheumatologist, which she did. Now, she made the email of information

below to that same address. First, she was told off for doing

that. " You were only suppose to send the picture of your hand to this

address. Don't use it ever again. Don't even use it again to send a

picture of your hand. " Then it gets worse. Apparently, the

rheumatologist gets a pornographic photo in her email. She then accuses

Irene of sending it. Have you lost your mind, doctor? She's in all this

pain and trying to get you records by fax and going back and forth to

ER and scheduled for more tests and to see her GI and for some unknown

reason doing this? Furthermore, she doesn't have some email issue

causing it either, where your account is attached or hijacked. I can

assure you I'm gotten...well lots and lots of emails from Irene....and

no porn. I've gotten a very cute Penguin picture but even that was

intentional. And none of this is kindly spoken or asking, but ugly and

attacking as she calls someone already in severe pain. I hope the

rhematologist is on drugs or something. Would hate to think this was

her normal self. Oh, so logical. Here I am in pain at 2:30 AM sending

you an update by email and faxing you copies and, just for the heck of

it, I'm going to throw in some porn. And so get offended and tell me

off and don't worry at all about my Crohn's flare up resulting from an

ER mistake in injecting where they should have known not to nor my

weight loss nor anything else. Doctors can't take time out of their day

to talk to you about problems but can to blast you for sending them a

legitimate email and then turn around and blast you for sending them

porn.

Well, guess you can tell in spite of it all, Irene hasn't lost her

fight and she's going to do whatever it takes to get some treatment. At

least her GI has shown proper concern and while the pain is still

serious, he should have the latest test results Monday and may proceed

with moving her normal treatment up on Tuesday and Wednesday. Still

waiting for lung doctor appointment.

Guess I don't need to tell you where she is now. At work. Somehow

between hospital and ER and doctors and pain, she still goes to work

and, yesterday, through the biggest snow storm of the year in Toronto.

I must say this, since I have expressed a very negative opinion of the

medical care in Toronto, the attitude of her employer is one we

certainly would rarely find in the U.S. and I believe does represent a

significant difference between the U.S. and Canada. Her supervisor has

spoken to her with great care and understanding and reminded her that

they would be very flexible. I get a feeling of true concern and that

when they see her doing everything she can to work when she can, they

respect that and treat her as a human being. They seem sincere too. I

can tell you, unfortunately, most larger U.S. employers would be, even

if they expressed some concern to you, they'd already be talking to you

about " can you do this " , " maybe you shouldn't be working " , or trying to

find ways to either talk you into leaving or force you to leave.

And, I don't base this difference just on Irene's case. U.S. business,

on the whole, has the least humanity remaining of any country. We work

more hours and employees are shown less respect. I've been involved

with other persons throughout the world in positions similar to mine

when in business. They were appalled at the normal U.S. practices. I'm

sure there are some here on the board who have found accomodating

employers in the U.S. There was a time most would have been. But most

wouldn't respect the incredible effort she's made. They would be

concerned about two things. First, that she has missed some time and

been late a little when coming from the ER for instance. Second, and

this is one to think about when you consider our health insurance

program, I can assure you they would be concerned about her medical

costs. Most large U.S. employers use insurers for administration but

are technically self insured. If you don't think they look at the

bottom line and consider the costs they are incurring for an

individual, think again. They review monthly their costs by individual.

Again, this isn't across the board. But, the attitude in Canada and

other countries is more humane than in the U.S. business world at large.

Well, Irene goes on and fights through whatever gets in her way. Send

her suggestions on rheumatologists if you have a good one. New York

City, Detroit, etc. most convenient. Although, bet she'd go for one in

Orlando/Mouse World...lol.

Oh, and just in case you think for one moment otherwise, my first

message from her this morning was " 89 more days cannot wait lol " . Omg,

now we're back off a day in counting from each other and I thought we'd

worked that out. I say 90, but i like her number better.
