Byran,

If I understand it right the testosterone blockers have stopped working for you. So what is next for you? Will they try avodart (sp)? Am concerned for you and those of us that follow you because there are like 2 month chemo treatments after that. Like you I do not see anything being develped out there that gives significant time that is within our liftime. The F77 antigen looks good but has not made it to animal studies. Does anybody know if they have started larger animal studies? Am anxious it seems like my only hope for a significant advance in this thing.

Wish you well?

I got to MD and they did their test and will be on Lupron until it stops working. I requested a Psychiatrist since life got very hard under the effects of lupron. I have all of the side effects and wow what an effort to keep going-no energy, anxiety, sleeplesness, body aches, depression-life felt like not worth living. Lupron free I am not like that and with my psychotherapist backround I still could not pick myself off the floor. What did you guys reccomend that was helping you? What I have left I want quality life as well so I need chemicals to counteract the effects of lupron. So your wisdom and suggestions would be very welcome.

Oh my lymph gland has shrunk and my PSA is now down to 1.8 from 4.6. I have the unrealistic hope that if I take and eat all those things that seem to effect cancer and my immune system as well as my whole system recover from back surgery. I hope my system will get healthy enough to take on cancer again. My PSA began raise after my back surgery which almost killed me. I know an outside hope but.....

Thanks for for being here for me!

Tom

I think I would depends on the UK docs and authorities and my situation at the time

[ProstateCancerSupp ort] On the Horizon- Another Potential Prostate Cancer Vaccine

Vaccine therapy is one of the new frontiers in cancer research and hopefully, in the very near future, in prostate cancer treatment…… Now, a potential new vaccine (Prostvac-VF ) that is based on a relative of the smallpox virus seems to also offer a life extending ability to men with advanced prostate cancer……. Preliminary tests conducted on 125 men with advanced prostate cancer that was hormone refractory showed they lived more than 8 months longer than men not treated with the vaccine.

If Tom was not briefed by the medic on the side effects (SEs) of

androgen

deprivation therapy, that medic failed him.

Is the medic a urologist?

Here are links to two excellent articles on ADS (androgen

deprivation

syndrome) and how to deal with it.

At the moment I am on Diethylstilbesterol plus clopidogrel to minimise blood clots plus the Zoledex (equivelent of Lupron)

After a mad rise in PSA in winter 2008/9 it levelled off, I have taken vitamin D3 over winter hoping to replicate summer, blood test taken on Monday, fingers crossed!

Next is Taxotere. I'll be asking the consultant if anything else will be availble such as avodart

My empathy and best wishes go with you
