Guest guest
, As a journalist for 45 years I also was very good at taking notes -- in fact, I use a mix of Pittman's shorthand and abbreviations, but in the emotional situation talking about cancer with a doctor who might (and did) use terms I was not familiar with, I found I did miss a lot of info in my notes which the recording caught. I used a small digital recorder about the size of an Ipod Nano which cost me $49 at Radio Shack. I use it for other things all the time. It too is unobtrusive like Alan's Nano, but I made no attempt to hide it and none of the doctors objected or seemed to care. Mike C. Guest guest
I also have a small recorder (digital) It will record for hours . No tape to fool with. I use it for many meetings. In my shirt pocket it will catch most of the other side , if there is not too much background noise. Different state have different laws about recording. I am in no way using it for an kind of legal mumbo jumbo. Just a recording so I can go over what was said and not have to worry about notes. Going to the Dr. is one of its number one uses. , As a journalist for 45 years I also was very good at taking notes -- in fact, I use a mix of Pittman's shorthand and abbreviations, but in the emotional situation talking about cancer with a doctor who might (and did) use terms I was not familiar with, I found I did miss a lot of info in my notes which the recording caught.
