Re: [NASPCC] Advocacy heroes

Kathy,You left off one very important hero, Kathy Meade!

http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/38737292 Lawrence McRae saw a need and decided to take action. He just did it. Emerson is another of my heroes. He started a nonprofit,Faith-Love-Hope-Win, http://www.flhw.org to raise money for prostate cancerresearch.Fred Gersh, a VPCC board member, who has been tireless fighting for menwith prostate cancer on the federal level. He has been especially interestedin making sure that men get benefits that they are eligible for who havebeen exposed to agent orange while they were in Viet Nam.Terry Herbert maintains a website that gives men an opportunity to sharetheir stories so that men can hear what other men have experienced.http://www.yananow.net Nowak Who is willing to speak up on behalf of and offer support to menwith advanced prostate cancer. www.advancedprostatecancer.net Charlie Hill who is working to begin an independent Prostate PatientNavigator ProgramThe Prostate Patient Navigator Position will guide underserved communityresidents especially African-American men through the healthcare continuum, establishing contacts with residents pre-diagnosis, with recurrent and newlydiagnosed Prostate Cancer patients, their family members and care givers. These names came across my computer today. I am sure there are many morepersonal stories of men who are taking actions that make a difference. It iswonderful that so many men have become engaged. These men show that no matter where you are or what your resources are, youcan take actions that make a difference for men and their families who aredealing with prostate cancer. As Rick Ward used to say, just do it. Evenlittle actions can make a big difference. Kathy Meade
