Guest guest
Donna, Congrats on your transplant. I have not been on line a lot since my transplant 8/22/08 and my lung collapse on Wed. before Thanksgiving; but am doing much better. Where did you have your transplant? What meds do they have you on? I am currently on 6 mg Prograf twice a day, 1000 mg Cellcept twice a day, 25 mg Prednisone at 9 a.m. Benicar (for high blood pressure which started after the 10 days of the IVs they gave me in Nov. for rejection (which the 10 biopsies they did on Jan. 22 now show negative for rejection-hurray), Septra (a sulfa antibiotic to prevent some time of infection) Nystatin mouth wash to prevent fungus), Citracal 630 mg with 400 mg Vit. D, Centrim Silver Multivitamin, Nexiium 40mg for my GERD, Pravachol 40 mg for high cholesterol (which the rejection meds can cause) Senokot stool softener, Xanax (anxiety med which helps control the tremors that the Prograf causes in me) Norco (Hydrocodine for pain-which is back pain now from my degenerative disc disease that I have had for years), Lunesta (for insomnia) Veramyst nasal spray, Zyrtec and Singulair for my allergies and Asthma, HCTZ (diuretic) and Potassium because I am taking the diuretic, Novalog Insulin 4 times a day and Levemir Insulin 1 time a day for the diabetics caused (we hope) by the steroids (although my great grandmother, grand mother and mother all ended up with diabetics so it may have been coming my way anyway. I also take 400 IU Vitamin E and 50 mg of COQ 10. I have an Albuterol inhaler that I carry with me for my Asthma but have not had to use it in a long time. They also prescribed the laxative Miralax since the Norco causes the constipation but the increase in the Prograf last week seems to have solved that problem, plus I try to be sure to eat healthy including enough fiber and salads. I found an organic cereal that contains flax seed and use 1/4 cup of it along with 1/4 cup of 100% bran and add fresh blueberries. I just completed my 4th week of physical therapy (go twice a week & one is in the pool). I have a free pass for the pool and intend to try going every day to see if I can handle that as it should help my back and strengthen my body. This YMCA is the largest in the country and has 5 pools including the senior one, which means I don't have to be exposed to kids and their germs. Take care and keep getting better. Guest guest
I am just curious, Donna. How would one know when their lung has collapsed? The docs keep telling me my right lung is so close, but I don't have any idea what kind of symptoms to look for. Carocbayjpw wrote: Donna,Congrats on your transplant. Guest guest
Hi, I'm a lot of meds since the transplant, ( was on 17 prxs) not so many now. The prograf 7 mg twice daily, allegra, imuran 75 mg, bactrim, calcium carbonate, colace, coumadin, magnesium oxide, novolog flexpen 14 unit (3x day) plus sliding scale, nystatin, percocet, predisone 15 mg, prevacid 30 mg, toprol xl, thus finshed valcyte 450 mg only that for 3 mons. plus oxygen up to 2 liters. I had my brocropscopy with 16 lung biopsies and one signs of rejection. I will better each day. I was sick Thanksgiving Day throwing all day and have to get med for that. The was sick for a week after Christmas and I didn't doc, was a sick and husband was sick too. We had a 72 hr stomach bed and uri and since I had a antibotic that didn't as me as husband ( send him to the doc). My transplant doc didn't mad at me, he understood I called call and hubby couldn't call, we were sick for 3 days throwing up and stayed in day for 3 days then the URI showed up. Since then, I've been better. I have the temors from the prograf and also had a stroke when I had the transplant. I also had a blood in my leg. I forget my words at times but that is better and my spelling is bad and numbers and we don't get along. I say one thing and write another. But I still go it again. I'm getting stronger every day. I'm getting my life back. I can do things that I couldn't do for 5 years and that is refreshing. My hubby got this anniversary gift early, we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary, We are looking to 30 more. Carolyn wanted to know how to know how you lung collasped.
