My daughter katrina had surgery on her foot a couple of months ago and has been out of plaster and in her brace or foot-ankle orthotic for a couple of weeks. For the first few days she was very apprehensive about walking without support but now she is fantastic and hardly limps at all. She must wear the brace whenever she walks and needs to use a frame if she isn't weaking it. She has just told me that it is hot, sticky and uncomfortable but better than being in a wheelchair. She just wears ordinary shoes but they are runners which lace up so I don't know what we will do when the weather warms up in the next few weeks. Katrina also says that if anyone wants to stare, let them, she's got a selection of smartypants comments just waiting to be used.
