Guest guest
I don't tend to watch the early stages much anymore. I think they just give too much attention to some people like the girl cursing them out so last week and others just there for the hope of being on tv making fools of themselves and interfering with those who really want a chance to see what they can do. I enjoy later stages more, but do believe they need someone very special this year. They got on the roll with , Clay, and 's incredible success and Rueben sold well as did Fantasia and though not a finalist obviously Daughtry did. But and failed to generate excitement after the show and so far Jordin hasn't either. 's stubbornness in wanting to perform the music he liked as opposed to that which won him the prize hurt him tremendously. ly, if I'm starting a career I'm going to listen to whatever Clive says. Maybe later do your own thing more. The voter who chose him wasn't the audience he's appealing to now. Jordin has potential but she's just not there yet. It's not like any have truly been failures. It's a matter of degrees and the finalists the last two years just haven't had the kind of success , Reuben (with his first album), Clay, , and even Fantasia did. They need someone to open on top of the charts, stay there a while and hit a million albums fast again. American Idol will always be odd in that there will be so many bashers but the ratings tell the true popularity. It sort of reminds me of careers of persons like Barry Manilow and Celine Dion. People love to make fun of them and take shots, but they have loyal followings like most never dream. Barry jokes about it, talking sometimes to his audience about what great fans and how they were loyal when being his fan wasn't necessarily an easy thing to do because of what others had to say. Its one of those shows that its good they have automatic Neilson and other machines now. Back in the fill out the sheet days, a lot of fans might not have. Well, I do so hope they can generate some tremendous excitement with the talent this year. Last year certainly tailed off a bit as the season went on, compared to previous years. They can lose some fans and still be a huge hit, but I want them to maintain and be a hit for a long long time. There have been a lot os super young people to start tremendous careers off the show and not just the winners. From recording to tv roles to s to Broadway sensations. > > > Hi there, Beth! > > From what I have been reading about you, you seem to be doing very well > and enjoying life in N.C. Guest guest
We have Pop Idol, it's the same thing. I used to like the early stages and not bother with the end bit, but then I found out that once the 'singers' are performing in front of the judges, the bit that we see on the telly, that's their second interview. They're forwarded to the second interview if they are what they think the judges might be looking for or if they think that the contestant is bad enough to be entertaining. This goes part of the way to explaining why the contestants are so shocked to be told that they're awful!
