Caro, absolutely you are not nuts! Doesn't he have anybody to cover

for him when he is gone? You need to see a lung doc, one that is

available and has coverage in case of emergency when he is gone.

Finding one isn't so easy, I know. Have you finished the

antibiotics? What about prednisone? (I'm sorry I don't remember, I

can't keep track of my own meds) If you have to go to the hospital,

then go but in the mean time please treat your pain. Pain changes

the way you breathe and that isn't good for your lungs. When I had

pneumonia in November and December I wouldn't take pain meds until

the coughing was so bad I couldn't stand it. What I learned was to

take my pain medication on a regular basis then I didn't cough as

much.

We are all different, I know. What works for me might be totally

wrong for you but one thing I am sure about YOU ARE NOT OFF YOUR

ROCKER.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I can't understand why he does not have someone covering for him, either. He is the only pulmo doc in this city, though. He is in partners with his wife and another physician from India who is a cardiologist. His wife is Internal Medicine, but unfortunately, she is India with him!! I did finish the prednisone yesterday. Still have 4 days left of the antibiotic (Levaquin) and it is making me bloat out of this world. I think I would like to add it to my "allergy list!!" LOL!! Plus it is making my restless legs act up and I can't sleep. I think you are right on the pain medication. I know when I was taking 1 a day about midday, I had a lot smoother day. Last night when I went to bed, whenever I would lie flat on my back, I could hear this gurgling sound in my right lung every time I took a breath, then

the pain would get worse. Took me forever to go to sleep. I think I still woke up about every hour. Sometimes I wonder if it was worth it to go through all of this for the diagnosis with the VATS. I guess it will be in the long run if I can get help with medications and medical bills. Just seems so far down the road ---- Caro Kathie wrote: Caro, absolutely you are not nuts! Caro, Have you ever heard the expression " KICK HIM TO THE CURB"  do it. my lord I would drive an hour or two for a good Dr. I'll be praying for you.  It's just such a shame you have to go through this and bigger shame that a Dr. would leave his practice NOT covered.. crazy. I'm not sure he's coming back....or anytime soon. I'd definitely get

to someone else. Keep that appointment but don't wait for him.

Well, there is something going on that isn't being told...probably

not being told to his staff either.

But anyone who respects their patients and their needs so little, I

have a hard time respecting. If it were something like serious

illness with a parent at least he would have owed you all an

explanation and tried to contact colleagues even if a bit distant.

Caro, I'm kinda worried about you. My personal belief is that you

should go ahead and be seen in the ER. I know, I know, it's a pain in

the butt....I just think you should be seen, like NOW.

Even with 4 days left on the levaquin I wouldn't wait. And coming

from me, someone who has waited until being nearly paralzyed with

pain from RA before going, that is really saying something when I say

GO!

Would it help if I said Please?......Please???? At least for an X-

ray? and maybe a stronger anti-biotic? Like Cipro or something?

You can yell back at me if ya want to.....but I wish you would GO!

Hugs and hugs and lots of healing vibes!

CAro,

Flabbergasted is all I can say...what REALLY stuns me is that they scheduled the VATS when it MUST've been clear there'd be no back-up for you after the procedure if things went pear-shaped!

I hope so, too, Zena. I am trying to decide this morning whether to call another family physician here just to see if I can somewhat get the pneumonia under control, or just go straight and call my previous family physician, as they already have some of my records, and just have them forwarded to another pulmonary specialist there, even though it is 2 hours away. I feel so deserted!! I have been to tons of doctors in my time, but I have NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER been to one who just left the country with no one to care for his patients in his absence. This is totally unreal to me!!! I am probably going to go with the latter choice, though. I really feel like another family practice doc is just going to send me to another pulmonologist anyway, so I may as well go straight to the source that can get me some help. I will keep you all posted as soon as I find out something. Probably won't be until

Monday, though, as my previous family physician closes at noon on Fridays and I know if I call this a.m., they won't call me back anyway. Will just have to deal with this through the weekend, I guess. Hopefully, won't end up in the ER again. Hope you all have a great weekend and thanks so much to everyone for listening and caring about me. You all make me feel so special. I call this group "my special place!!"
