Guest guest
Others may probably be able to answer this better, but I will share my recent experience with you to back up my answer I think both, but for me...it made my yeast go crazy I was doing really well adhering to SCD for many months (about 7). I didn't cheat and I was content eating a variety of foods that i knew I could tolerate. I had been virtually symptom free from the beginning of May because Remicade worked wonders for me. I didn't cheat because of that, though. I had been with family for a total of about 3 weeks and after a while, away from my home, my big freezer and all of my SCD foods that i could grab easily, I became tired of refusing sweet stuff and caved. I ate some. It tasted really good, but it made me feel awful and the worst part thats all I craved afterwards. CARBS CARBS CARBS. That was all I thought about and for a while, I was eating the junk! A while ago, I had to write into the list and ask for an accountability partner to get over the hump and leave those cravings and out of control yeasts, behind me. Its much better now, but that cheating made my yeasts really really happy. I think it is worse than inflammation because I think by eating the sweets, I made my yeasts stronger and hardier, I am still trying to get that under control and its been a while. So...don't beat yourself up, but get back on the straight and narrow as quickly as you can! Good luck and know that most of us, though we might not talk about it, have struggled with this, too. You aren't alone in caving, just get back on track and remember WHY you are on SCD. Tomorrow is a new day. Thats the great thing about tomorrow...there are no mistakes in it (paraphrased from Anne of Green Gables).
