Some suggestions:

Do some reading in advance.  Your local library or bookstore

probably has some useful books on prostate cancer, or you can

order them from the Internet bookstores.

Prepare a list of questions for the doctor.  Write them down and

bring your notes with you.  I always find that when I've left the

doctor's office there were questions I meant to ask but forgot

to.

Bring a pen and paper to write down his answers.  If he's

amenable to it, you might even bring a recorder.  For an

important appointment like this it can also be useful to bring a

family member or friend who can also listen to your questions and

the doctor's answers - if you have someone who would be good at

that.

See if you can get copies of the PSA, biopsy, and scan reports.

To make best use of resources like this support group and books

about prostate cancer, it will often be useful to be able to know

exactly what the reports said.  Also, if you have copies of the

reports you'll be able to find out things that just didn't come

up during your consultation with the doctor or, if they did come

up, you might not have fully understood them at the time.

Let us know what you find out and best of luck to you.

Rody Here:

November 3rd I see an Oncologist about Lupron Injections for a time

period. I am a Forum mostly females and I have yet to find anything

positive about this medication. There is a medication out of Canada

Alidart (sp). The side affect according to 100% of this forum have

very bad things to say about this poison they call it. I guess it is

suppose to be a sorta blocker to keep Tetrestrone (sp) away from

where prostarte use to be. See, I don't have this gland anymore but

do have cancerous left behind (missed). Radiation has been talked

about also. Do you not have to have a Pet Scan to locate the missed

site, or even if that will.

Every possible

success. Learn all you can; this site is a HUGE help.

There's more BS out there on the 'net than on a

farmer's field, so scrutinize everything. As we used

to say in journalism school, "If your mother tells you

she loves you, check your sources."
