Guest guest
Contrary to popular belief your are eligible according to the people at Walter 's Gulf War Illness Clinic. I would call 202-782-6563 or DSN 662-6563. Ask them directly for this may have changed since I went through Phase three last February at Walter . Bottom line is you have the same stuff many of us have in us and are all ill with similar problems. Guest guest
I thought that all of the criteria of the definition of " Mental Retardation " needed to be met- not just a questionable IQ. Also, I thought that the IQ score is not represented as a static number but that there is a margin of plus or minus so many points. >> " Mental retardation means significantly subaverage general intellectual >>functioning existing concurrently with deficits in adaptive behavior and >>manifested during the developmental period, that adversely affects a >>child's educational performance. " " General intellectual functioning " is typically measured by an intelligence test. Persons with mental retardation usually score 70 or below on such tests. " Adaptive behavior " refers to a person's adjustment to everyday life. Difficulties may occur in learning, communication, social, academic, vocational, and independent living skills. " (from the NICHY fact sheet on MR) << Shame on any agency that would rigidly use any numbers out of context of a person's life and history! My uncle actually had a similar situation in that his IQ was reported to be somewhere between 70 and 75. As the years went by, I think the numbers for " qualifying " changed. Since my uncle also had mental illness, at times there was a question as to who his service providers should be, and which " dx " was the primary one. (All of this was in PA, too- in Erie.) Blessedly, the county casemanagement system decided to get with the times and offered services across the board for both MH and MR/DD if needed. I believe there were some caseworkers who co-ordinated things. I also know that even in his last decade of life, they still re-tested his IQ and someone decided to test him on a " bad " day so there would be no question but that he still needed the services he was getting. (And this was critical because his supported living situation was at stake.) Interesting conumdrums. MB

Guest guest
thank you for the excellent job you do moderating this group. The other groups including the original message board gets a little petty about things. Seconding that !
Guest guest
Our daughter received both advice: wear just one and wear both together (the latter to help them work together). She just had her first check and the second SURPASSED The first! So wearing them together really worked for us. She too just didn't want to be without hearing on either side. Subject: Re: Bilateral Testimonies Needed! Hi s audi suggested using just the new implant on its own to try to strenghten(?) that side. was about the 8th I think child here to have a second implant so we are all learning along the way what is the best way to go. Having seen how hard it was for to use just one I think he would have been better off always having two on. That is just my opinion though and I guess we can only live and learn. That is also why I gave up trying to get him to just use the one. I am happy to hear that you are making such good progress using both together. I hope finds this also. Guest guest
Thanks for the info on the fosomax and osteolysis. Apparently I have it by the top of the stem not the cup and everything seems to be fine at this point (no loosening). I was diagnosed with this 12 years post THR not before the replacement.
