I've read that iron supplements

in general are not SCD legal? Could I use cod liver, for instance? Or...?

Thanks in advance!

Gitte,

Find a recipe for liver pate that you like. Make some. Have it on SCD

crackers on a daily basis. Cooking in cast iron is also helpful. Be sure

you are getting enough Vitamin C as that helps absorption. You might also

be checked for folic acid and B-12 levels, as those can be factors in

anemia.

(Heavens, I can't believe I'm recommending LIVER. I hate the stuff.

Except when I need it. I keep hearing Elaine's silvery laugh in the back

of my head -- she teased me about my dislike for it a few

times.)

Fortunately I'm one of those very rare people, who actually likes

liver, so that was a very good idea :-)

I got my folic acid shot today (that's why I was at the doctors), so

that should be ok.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions!

I'm new to the list, but I have, of course, noticed the enormous

support you get from everybody in this troubled time for you.

Arriving at the list I figured out immediately that you are one of

the corner stones in this community. It simply wouldn't be the same

without you! I wish you all the best and, please, also receive a lot

of positive energy from this part of the world (Denmark).

Except for the folic acid shots I've kept myself off meds and out of

hospitals for 28 years, so an IV would not be something for me. But I

wish you all the luck with your son. I really hope it works for him,

since it's very exhausting to be that anemic.
