Guest guest
Good morning all! Back from -Jewish in St. Louis, spent a week there. Wonderful complex(HUGE), some of the nicest people I've ever met. A busy week for sure,, day began around 5am and ended around 4:30 pm. Some tests or meetings were longer than expected, but that never bothered the staff as they were ready when you arrived at the next test or meeting. I did get my first ever nose bleed on Monday that conti all week to the point, my wife called the EMT " S to the hotel room, cause I'd filled the bed, floor and the waste can with blood. They took me to the BJ ER and we spent from 5am till 8am getting that stopped and stuffed with cotton so we could finished out the week of tests and meetings. Bad part-My Dr. Yusem was called home with sick kids, so the final and important meeting with the full staff never occured! Hopeful that call will come soon. I did hear thatr due to my height I may have a better chance of transplant as there aren't many 6'4 1/2 " tall. we'll see! As soon as we arrived home on Friday and my RN daughter was bringning in dinner the nose bleed began, so the local ER DR couldn't get it stopped and called an ENT DR, after five shots way up my nose then packing the nose & airing it up, they admitted me overnite. One interesting item that I'm sure never happens to anyone!!! HA!!!!! the night RN put an IV in my arm, but it kept bleeding back, twice he tried then gave up. 1/2 hrs later the IV alarm went off, the RN returned, still didn't know what to do, so I suggested he UNBLOCKED THE IV DRIP MAYBE? WORLDS OF WONDER THINGS CAME BACK TO NORMAL!!!! Also just another funny they some reason forgot to give me my med which I hadn't taken in 24 hours for even breakfast, so my wife(GOD BLESS HER) brought my medas from home and a great hot coffee. The RN on duty went ballist about the meds from home, but only med shehad for me was a antibotic!!!! go figure!!! So today they unpack my nose -hopefully the bleeding is done and life will returnto normal if that is possible for US PF " S. I strongly recommend -Jewish in St. Louis to all that need their services-they are great!!!!! sorry for the long note!!!!!!! george ks IPF-060-07-08 and still KIcking!!!!!!!! Guest guest
, I had Dr. Yusen when I was there, too. I really liked him. Did you have Wanda as your coordinator. I liked her a lot. It is impressive there. They are a well trained group of people. Ask for a copy of all your testing and letters. I had to ask a couple of times, but they finally sent a big packet. I pray that your search for transplant will be successful. I am wondering why the nosebleeds???? Hugs, Joyce D. Guest guest
This is the first time I have posted. My name is er. I live in Ashland, MIssouri and was diagnosed with IPF in June 2006. Thank you for telling such good things about . That is where the doctors from Columbia sent me. I have seen Dr. Tonya at the lung center and now I am scheduled to go to the lung transplant center March 17 for all of the testing to see about possible transplant. When you were there which hotel did you stay at? I should be receiving all the information from them soon. I just had my phone interview yesterday. Well I'm at work and have a lot to do so I better go. er IPF 06/07 > > > > Good morning all! Back from -Jewish in St. Louis, spent a week > > there. Guest guest
, While I was there, we stayed at the Parkway Hotel which is attatched to the hospital by pedway. Very nice and has a nice big discount for patients at . Our insurance paid everything, even snacks. It is a wonderful lung center. Hugs, Joyce D.
