Guest guest
Hi! Kerry's message was truly awesome. She is right about the messages on our board regarding subject matter, etc. coming back around again with new groups of people. I just wanted to add one thing: If someone wishes to qualify for a transplant or to join a drug trial, then biopsy is required. Personally I was absolutely scared of having a lung biopsy. Absolutely! I avoided this subject from 1998 until 2003 when my pulmo dr insisted on it and which way did I want to have it? The day was a Tuesday, and I had it 3 days later. The longer I waited, I knew I would have backed out. So I had it quick and it was hard to get over. (for me). Prednisone really messed up my life during this time and the doctors would not let me quit taking it. Only after getting over the respiratory distress, have I remained prednisone-free. Toodles to All! Jane UIP/IPF 12/1998 Dalton, Georgia aka pianolady_musicgirl

Guest guest
Every center seems to have different rules. Thats like my pulmonologist said some won't consider you for biopsy until you've done prednisone and it failed to help. Thats one I hadn't heard of. > > > > > > Hi! > > > > Kerry's message was truly awesome. Guest guest
Oh, that one really angers me...put you on prednisone....shock, you gain weight. Oh, now you don't qualify. !%$!$%@^ & %. If I went on prednisone I'd want daily appointments switching between my mental health counselor and food and monitoring and exercise and who knows what else. I become a wreck from just the thought. > > > > > > > > > Hi! > > > > > > Kerry's message was truly awesome. Guest guest
Peggy, It is kind of like when you see a Dr. or have pfts, etc. they always say " take a DEEP breath and hold it " . Like if I could do that why would I be there? Hugs, Kathie > > > > > > > > > Hi! > > > > > > Kerry's message was truly awesome. Guest guest
Yes, I couldn't do the Lung Capacity parts of the PFT's on Friday as I couldn't keep breathing in long enough for " the graph " . So, all I got was the spirometer portions. They were bad enough. I didn't need more numbers to reinforce its worsening. > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi! > > > > > > > > Kerry's message was truly awesome.
