Guest guest
Hi , I have a 18mo old german shorthaired pointer puppy, so I still remember the housetraining days of puppyhood. I was lucky to have a puppy that learned to go outside quite early on, but that doesn't mean I didn't work on it lots and lots. My girl Chloe was crate trained to help with accidents in the beginning. There is lots of information about crate traning on the internet if you are feel up to looking. Basically what you do is put your dog in a crate, as it is said that they will not pee on their bed. Then you wait until they tell you that they have to go outside *whining*. Take mitzi outside and if she doesnt pee right away then put her right back in the crate for 15 mins and try again or just wait for her to whine again. When the puppy is outside the crate she should be supervised and watch for signs that she is going to pee ie. sniffing lots. When they are small puppies they tend to have to go outside about once an hour. Also, make sure your dog knows which door you want her to be the bathroom door. Originally we used the upstairs sliding door in the kitchen, but now she has a choice of either downstairs or upstairs back doors. good luck with your housetraining. I really do recommend crate training... it worked really great. It's also good for when you want to leave for the day and don't want the dog loose... just put her in the crate and she is content. Oh, one thing. They have these absorbant mats in the pet section at some store and all pet stores for your pet to go on in side the house. They have some sort of scent to them that attracts your pet to the mat and then use them for potty. I tried to use them once, but Chloe just teared it up into pieces. Though, I still think I'd rather have her go outside then on somethhing inside. >Kay, I am not feeling so great today. Walking Mitzi isn't helping, but hey, what can you do, right? I tried putting newspaper down, and she likes laying on it, but won't go on it, so I told my hubby that I think I'll lay paper everywhere and perhaps she won't go in the house! lol!! I feel like an unfit "mommy" today cause I just don't have it in me to do much with her today. My husband is sick since Monday and had him at the ER last night til late and I'm so beat. Thanks for always being there and please keep BJ in your prayers cause he's so sick. Can you walk Mitzi outside some or not?? Maybe frequent trips outside will help if that is possible. I know folks who train dogs to stay in a kennel all day while they are at work and they let them out as soon as they get home... > Kay >----- Original Message ----- >From: shelly smiegal >Rheumatoid Arthritis >Sent: Tuesday, August 31, 2004 12:41 PM >Subject: Re: Re: What is gold treatment? > > >Kay, Thanks for the good wishes! We are both doing well and played hard this morning with a tennis ball, so baby is asleep right now, and so Mom has time to do some writing. Thanks for the support and any advise on housebreaking my baby would be appreciated! Will write more soon~ > >Kay Simpson <Siwelyak@...> wrote: , > Hope Mitzi brings you hours of joy. She's a bit bigger than I'd originally planned, but He led us together and here we are! Thanks for the encouragement and support! Love, P.S. Oh, her name is Mitzi. > >shelly smiegal <shelsmieg2000@...> wrote: Harold, I am having trouble trying to get MTX. Is it a problem for you? I think many manufacturers stopped producing gold injections because of lack of demand. Methatrexate has been replacing the old gold salt injections and as I understand it, the reason they call it "gold" injection is because a small amount of gold was actually used in the mix. > > > > > > > > >--------------------------------- >Do you ? > is new and improved - Check it out! > > > > > > > >--------------------------------- >Do you ? >Win 1 of 4,000 free domain names from Enter now. > > > > > > > > >--------------------------------- >Do you ? >Read only the mail you want - SpamGuard. > >
