Guest guest
Mama Sher, can you believe this show??? I refuse to watch it. The " cringe " factor is just too high....and I mean, really, who thought this up? It's very debasing of the human spirit. I am looking forward to Dennis 's new show. I'll give it a watch or two to see if I like it. I think it's very natural to undergo a sort of metamorphosis when you're first diagnosed with this or any terminal disease. I spent a long time trying to wrap my mind around it, and also felt so alone for many years until I found the support boards. We spent the first 6 months in an absolute panic, and then many months of scared and worried, followed finally by " well, let's go DO something then " . Now that it's finally catching up with me in the energy department I like to read. The books take me away to fabulous places I will never see, and also serve to just let me " veg out " and not think. My mystery shows serve the same purpose, except I delight in figuring out " who dun it " before the show ends. I especially like Monk and Psych because they add humor to the genre. They'll be showing them on network tv now because of the writers strike. I went on a book search on Friday and ended up with 6 CD's instead... Right now the Chaz and I are listening to 60's music.....Lovin' Spoonful, The Grass Roots, Mamas and the Papas (California Dreamin'...ah, makes me homesick)... One thing this disease has done has allowed me to be more indulgent in my love of books and music. h is going to inherit one HECK of a big CD and book collection!!! LOL!!! I'll be waiting to hear that you went to the bookstore and found some good books to get lost in.... Hugs and prayers, Babs in Texas > > Babs... have you seen this new show To Tell the Truth? omgosh. There isn't enough $$ in the world for me to go on a show like that. lol. > Good idea, the used book stores. I used to haunt them weekly. Don't know why I stopped. I'll have to do it again. I think when I was dx two years ago my life stopped for awhile. I didn't even know it until now. > hugs. > Mama-Sher, 69; IPF, 3-06, OR. > Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! >
Guest guest
My favorite from the Mama's and Papa's is " Dream a Little Dream of Me " . Some of these shows they would have to pay me millions to appear on. However, people are just running to get on a tv show that will allow them to make a complete national fool of themselves. How do you actually face your friends or go to work the next day? > > > > Babs... have you seen this new show To Tell the Truth? omgosh. > There isn't enough $$ in the world for me to go on a show like that. lol. > > Good idea, the used book stores. Guest guest
Oh yes Mama Sher, Mama Cass Elliott was a fabulous singer! The Chaz and I listen to the groups' music a lot. I was a little girl in the 60's but I had several much older brothers and sisters, so I was listening to their music all the time. And, this is going to be kinda funny....that new Dennis show that is coming up, that I couldn't remember the name? It's called Amnesia!!! LOL!!! Once your eyes are healed you may want to also look for a Goodwill Store or Salvation Army. I get a lot of my books from them. I hope that your eyes are healing fantastically well and you will be able to see perfectly. Big big hugs from Texas! Guest guest
Bruce... me too. I can hear Mama Cass singing that song in my head. What a voice she had. Different but wonderful. Guest guest
Babs look for the " In the Garden " series of 3 books. I think Nora is the author - & Nobles should have them. Guest guest
Well, I think the uniqueness was special. There are many singers better technically than those we hear. But we hear the truly special ones who bring something different. Look back at the style of Elvis Presley, a sound we just hadn't heard. Or think of someone like ny Mathis. Do you know how hard voice teachers work to get you to not sing nasally like he does? > > > > > > Babs... have you seen this new show To Tell the Truth? omgosh. > > There isn't enough $$ in the world for me to go on a show like > that. lol. > > > Good idea, the used book stores. Guest guest
Thank you for that tip. I love her books and didn't know about this series. I have to go pick up some pain pills tomorrow and there is a book store close to the Walgreens. Big hugs!
