Guest guest
Oh I went through that of can't even get a prescription right and send it to right place. Insane. Like you're the first oxygen patient they've ever had? It's suddenly rocket science. It is no more complicated that writing a prescription for a medication (ok, a little more). I'm betting they don't properly specify stationary and portable too so you'll be going back to them. Prescription Simple: Needs Stationary and Portable O2 At Rest - 2 lpm Activity - 3-4 lpm Sleep - 2 lpm Copy and Fax Oh, lets see....that took maybe 30 seconds including the fax.....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr > > > > Here is your trivia for today, stuff you never wanted to > know.....Our 15 year old daughter has been traveling alot with our hi- > school basketball teams (the boys travel, too) They were at a tourney > in Barrow last weekend. Guest guest
Oh Sher I just can't believe the stupidity of some people. Keep us posted and give them a load.. ggggggrrrrrrrr Love and Prayers, Peggy ipf 6/04 Worry looks around. Sorry looks back, Faith looks up. I'm working my way through nearly 200 emails and can't possible answer each one but I'm aware of most of what's going on with most of you ..still have more to read. I'm typing with tears in my eyes I am soooo frustrated. No, maybe I'm just plain po'd at the emotional stress we have to go through just to get basic orders followed. I still have no O2!!! Oh, yes, I've called and called again. Some place after seeing the Dr. last Friday I fell through the cracks. Order was sent to wrong Dr. (Yeah, why wasn't it sent to an O2 provider.)And, can you imagine, he FILLED THE ORDER (at a request from Lincare because of a call from me as to where is the O2) w/o knowing the testing done at OHSU! My calls produced that much info and I said he is NOT my Dr. (the last one who said I have " burnt-out " ILD). The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing and I'm calling trying to get O2. Finally, this morning, Lincare says they have an order! Oh goodie. But........ we get smart on this board....when I inquired what the order is for, it's for an overnight oximetry only! Still no O2.....so I called Dr. office again. They are trying to sort this all out but nonetheless, I'm w/o O2. Trying to breathe properly. I realize now I should have been on O2 long ago. It will all work out...I'll call until it does. I'm mostly upset because I read your posts and now add mine to the comedy of errors we must plow through. If we don't advocate for ourselves important things fall to the wayside. If I hadn't called I could be sitting here next month and no the wiser that I fell through the cracks. Thanks for letting me vent. My fingers are typing so fast the energy is fairly pouring out! >>>thanks for holding me to Mama. Mama-Sher, 69, IPF 3-06, Sleep Apnea, OR. Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Guest guest
MamaSher I am so frustrated for you. What is wrong with these people. I worked cust service for years and if you didn't get it right the 1st time there was hell to pay. The managers didn't like having to deal with irate customers. I hope everything gets fixed ASAP . I finally put in my mattress genie as I have been having unbearable heartburn again. I have a select comfort air bed and had to weave it through the air hoses. Thanks again . Guest guest
Sher, I am so frustrated and angry that you are going through this. I agree you should have been on O2 long ago and in fact probably never should have been taken off of it when you were but what's done is done. In the here and now... When is someone going to bring you your oxygen?????? It's been nearly a week since the new doctor ordered it. Oh dear heart they are lucky they are on the other side of the country from me or I'd be in Lincares office, kickin a$$ and takin names. Love you Sher! Guest guest
Two things major happened. One, most of the people here are responsible for. Do you remember the first time you decided to go shop at a K-Mart or Wal Mart instead of patronizing the locally owned mom and pop store? The first time you went to Home Depot or Lowes instead of the local hardware and lumber? As consumers we made it very clear we would not, on the whole, pay anything extra for service. The clearest example is the death of full service gas except in Oregon where self service isn't legal or wasn't the last I checked. Two, the medical industry was taken under complete control by the insurance companies with 30-40% of the dollars we spend now on medical care being used for things other than our medical care. Every medical provider was forced to reduce costs, especially with that combined with malpractice. Furthermore, employers don't evaluate insurance companies on the basis of service for the most part. They look at costs. If they gave employees the choice of two providers with the same written policies but one with a reputation of better service at a higher price, how many do you think would take the higher price? Now, none of this in any way excuses the callousness and the lack of caring and the sloppiness. As long as you're in the job you have a responsibility to do it right. If you don't like it, get out. Apria and Lincare are K-Mart and Wal-Mart. They have all these private deals. It doesn't sound so far like Lincare is the cause of Sher's problems, but we've talked enough about Apria, rated F and unsatisfactory by the BBB. But in less than five years I'm very much afraid we'll have no choices remaining but Apria and Lincare. Medicare is moving toward a bid system, insurers are agreeing to exclusive contracts. In some ways as a society we got what we deserved, but as individuals none of us deserve what we're getting and certainly not what its going to be. The doctor's office can't even send things to the right place or order oxygen correctly. How much confidence does that give you on something complicated? Businesses including doctors offices and hospitals don't have selective quality. It is pervasive throughout the organization and starts at the top. So you show me sloppiness on the simplest matters and I'll bet you'll see it on other things. The same office (my former pulmonologist's office) that didn't return calls and respond to emails, that took forever to write oxygen prescriptions, that sent them to the wrong place, and that took forever to contact me after a sleep study, runs the sleep lab and did by far the most incompetent and useless and inaccurate sleep study ever with the prescription for the CPAP not supported as making sense anywhere in the study. See, doctors who truly cared about quality wouldn't tolerate nurses who don't. > > > > > > Here is your trivia for today, stuff you never > > wanted to > > know.....Our 15 year old daughter has been > > traveling alot with our hi- > > school basketball teams (the boys travel, too) > > They were at a tourney > > in Barrow last weekend. Guest guest
Oh that makes me even angrier when I think how long she should have been on oxygen. What is so hard about six minute walks? What is so hard about a 24 hour recording oximeter? Oh and why can't every person with a lung disease get an oximeter to check themselves. > > > > Here is your trivia for today, stuff you never wanted to > know.....Our 15 year old daughter has been traveling alot with our hi- > school basketball teams (the boys travel, too) They were at a tourney > in Barrow last weekend. Guest guest
MB... I'm told now that Lincare will deliver the 24 hr oximeter and when the results are read THEN she will order O2. So it's surely going to be a few more days....that's if Lincare delivers today. I'm confused as to why the Dr. didn't just order O2 based on my sats but apparently the results from the 24 test are necessary. Sooooo. We shall see what we shall see. Thanks for the love. Love ya too. Bruce. I haven't felt the need for the expense of an oximeter because my sats have been normal up to now. Right now I'm just waiting........... Guest guest
... I'm waiting for a call from the Dr. (new, at OHSU) to call me and I'll get info straight from her as to what happened. Lincare can't bring what isn't ordered from Dr. so I don't blame them. The buck stops w/ Dr. She is "in clinic all day and not available". So, I'm waiting. Remember that old poster of a vulture sitting on a tall tree stump and the line is: Wait hell, I want to kill something! lol. That's about how I feel. This too shall pass........... Take care of you too. There are others who are dealing with so much more than this. I shouldn't complain one word!! I do hope the Genie works for you! Hugs. Guest guest
Bruce... I know "this stuff" irritates you. Me too. And others. I guess that's what causes the extreme stress when one must trouble-shoot their own care...it shouldn't be necessary! We're dealing w/professional people/places and it's hair jerking time when they prove to be unreliable. When I get the skinny from the Dr. I'll post what she says. I am trying to be patient and calm...no one did anything intentionally TO ME. As most know, I am very direct...comes from so many years in my career...and then when I'm po'd, no one doubts what I'm po'd about and I speak carefully and quietly. Yeeeeeeee, Tasmania, take me away. (grin) Mama-Sher, 69, IPF 3-06, Sleep Apnea, OR.Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Re: From Mama-Sher Oh I went through that of can't even get a prescription right and send it to right place. Insane. Like you're the first oxygen patient they've ever had? It's suddenly rocket science. It is no more complicated that writing a prescription for a medication (ok, a little more). I'm betting they don't properly specify stationary and portable too so you'll be going back to them. Prescription Simple:Needs Stationary and Portable O2At Rest - 2 lpmActivity - 3-4 lpmSleep - 2 lpmCopy and Fax Oh, lets see....that took maybe 30 seconds including the fax.....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr> >> > Here is your trivia for today, stuff you never wanted to > know.....Our 15 year old daughter has been traveling alot with our hi-> school basketball teams (the boys travel, too) They were at a tourney > in Barrow last weekend. Guest guest
Sher, The frustrating part is the 24 hour oxymeter is nice but certainly not NECESSARY to determine whether someone needs supplementary O2. If they sent you on a simple walk down the hall for 2 or 3 minutes without O2, I guaran damn tee you that your sats would be well below 90 which would qualify you for supplementary O2. It's all such nonsense. Why should they be allowed to WITHOLD MEDICAL TREATMENT so they can dot their i's and cross their t's? It's absolutely infuriating. Please don't do anything but sit on your fanny and wait. Don't exert yourself, now is the time for sitting and reading or watching tv or whatever. Please be careful!! Beth in NC age 48 Fibrotic NSIP 06/06 "For as long as I shall live, I will testify to Love." Re: From Mama-Sher Oh that makes me even angrier when I think how long she should have been on oxygen. What is so hard about six minute walks? What is so hard about a 24 hour recording oximeter? Oh and why can't every person with a lung disease get an oximeter to check themselves. > >> > Here is your trivia for today, stuff you never wanted to > know.....Our 15 year old daughter has been traveling alot with our hi-> school basketball teams (the boys travel, too) They were at a tourney > in Barrow last weekend. Guest guest
No....you thought your sats were normal. Make sure when on the 24 hour oximeter you do exert yourself so they don't just get the sitting you but the worst you reach as well. I'm guessing the 24 hour oximeter is a medicare requirement to have it confirmed by a respiratory therapist. > > > > > > Here is your trivia for today, stuff you never wanted to > > know.....Our 15 year old daughter has been traveling alot with our > hi- > > school basketball teams (the boys travel, too) They were at a > tourney > > in Barrow last weekend. Guest guest
Beth I suspect medicare. I've been on oxygen for months but went to medicare on Feb 1. The oxygen supplier had to send someone out to check me without and with the oxygen to prove it was helping me before medicare would pay them. > > > > > > Here is your trivia for today, stuff you never wanted to > > know.....Our 15 year old daughter has been traveling alot with our > hi- > > school basketball teams (the boys travel, too) They were at a > tourney > > in Barrow last weekend. Guest guest
MB...yes of course, I'm not doing much. Sitting here. Getting ready to watch a movie. A 6m/w last Friday was stopped at 3 min. because my sats were at 83. Last thing Dr. said was, "You definitely need to be on O2!" Well, duh and where is it? I don't think it's so much 'witholding' as it is stalling while the crack I fell through is filled! I called Lincare just now...a sweet little gal said she will call Dr.s office, check the chart notes and see if she can get me O2 today! Ok...more waiting. You know, I don't mind waiting, if someone will simply communicate to me I will need to wait a day or two or three! But w/no communication my head begins to spin on my shoulders. Thanks for the support. Mama-Sher, 69, IPF 3-06, Sleep Apnea, OR.Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Guest guest
I think and hope Lincare may be a bit better than the A word. If they have the prescription just not the medicare approval but have the doctors note of dropping to 83 then they might just take the chance. Of course for the 24 hour you'll need to go without probably but if you do make sure you do enough to drop it down. Then you're set. > > > > > > Here is your trivia for today, stuff you never wanted to > > know.....Our 15 year old daughter has been traveling alot with our > hi- > > school basketball teams (the boys travel, too) They were at a > tourney > > in Barrow last weekend. Guest guest
Beth I made copies of my medicare and medicare supplement cards (and same would apply if you end up on medicaid with medicare) and I provided them to all providers about a week (no more, figured they would screw up) before I was eligible. I faxed them to everyone. No problems so far, just the one silly test on oxygen. Lets see.....walking without took 30 seconds to drop below their requirement and then walked with oxygen fine. > > > > > > > > Here is your trivia for today, stuff you never wanted to > > > know.....Our 15 year old daughter has been traveling alot with > our > > hi- > > > school basketball teams (the boys travel, too) They were at a > > tourney > > > in Barrow last weekend. Guest guest
Oh Peggy... lol. It does seem nuts and they recognize my voice already from calling. Here's the latest!! Traced it down w/ help from Lincare. The ONLY order is for the 24 oximeter. NONE for O2. Soooo, we are back to square one with the O2. I was not nice this time, about 15 minutes ago, and said I want O2 and I do not need a 24 test to qualify for O2. That has already been done! But. The low sat numbers are not in my chart notes. So I responded, well get the low numbers in my chart notes so I can get O2. I told secty. this is not acceptable to me and I'm still waiting for Dr. to call me personally. Now it's gone from near rage to damn near funny! Ahhhh such is life. Mama-Sher, 69, IPF 3-06, Sleep Apnea, OR.Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Guest guest
Bruce... I remember you stressing this some time back and I will exert myself so it's not entirely sedentary. Thanks. Mama-Sher, 69, IPF 3-06, Sleep Apnea, OR.Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Re: From Mama-Sher No....you thought your sats were normal. Make sure when on the 24 hour oximeter you do exert yourself so they don't just get the sitting you but the worst you reach as well. I'm guessing the 24 hour oximeter is a medicare requirement to have it confirmed by a respiratory therapist. > > >> > > Here is your trivia for today, stuff you never wanted to > > know.....Our 15 year old daughter has been traveling alot with our > hi-> > school basketball teams (the boys travel, too) They were at a > tourney > > in Barrow last weekend. Guest guest
You're right Bruce... it is so simple and has gone to complicated. I still say the buck stops with the Dr. She is the one to issue orders/scripts/requests. Nothing gets done w/o her putting it into motion. "Someone" called me to tell me, "she is working on it". Would give me no other information! Just repeated herself. "She is working on it". My questions as to when, or what is ordered brought the same response. "She is working on it". Nothing will happen now this day. We'll begin again tomorrow....Friday....you know what that means! Thanks all for caring with me. Mama-Sher, 69, IPF 3-06, Sleep Apnea, OR.Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Re: From Mama-Sher Send me a pad and I'll write you a prescription.
