Guest guest
Dear , Your three part series should be REQUIRED reading for all physicians as well as all men either diagnosed with prostate cancer or interested in knowing more about prostate cancer. Thank you for bringing these articles to light for all to hopefully take time to read in their entirety. A caregiver recently brought to my attention this quote from Emerson that applies here: " Knowledge is the antidote of fear. " Chuck " What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others. Parts I-III. Anyone reading this series would have understood the issues involved with the PCPT and been astounded at the miscommunications to physicians and patients. 6 of 6 File(s) Strum 08 What We Should Have Learned Part II, focal Rx.pdf ATT00166._htm Strum 08 What We Should Have Learned Part III.pdf ATT00163._htm Strum 08 What We Should Have Learned Part I, Cavanaugh IT.pdf ATT00160._htm
Guest guest
It seems unlikely that these long and inconclusive debates will ever end, yet it has always seemed to me that there is such an obvious explanation for all the anomalies in the results. <SNIP> “We know that hormones affect the appearance of prostate cancer cells,” Ford said. “So we can speculate on whether these are truly high-grade tumors or just a change in the way they look under the microscope. But long-term follow-up is the only thing that’s going to answer the question.”<SNIP> Gleason (he of the Gleason Scoring system) has said that the classifications in the Gleason System cannot be used for the material recovered from prostate glands in this study. So any arguments based on the Gleason Grades is simply a waste of time in my opinion.
