You know he got extremely sick and threw up before every performance,

suffering from one of the most severe levels of stage fright of any

performer. But he loved to perform, so just always forced his way

throught it. Amazing how many comedians actually do have forms of

social anxiety (ny Carson being another example). Actually there

are a few athletes who get sick before every game as well but they

tend to keep that more hidden.

He also broke quite successfully a cardinal rule of comedian 101 and

that is to never laugh at your own joke. Obviously he laughed at all of

them.
