I had a fair amount of pain in the prostate region starting some

time after my diagnosis.  When I was sitting down it felt like

I was sitting on a golf ball in my prostate.

I mentioned it to a couple of doctors but they had no ideas.

My personal suspicion that it was an injury and/or infection

caused by a particularly brutal digital rectal exam.  I wound up

with pretty bad hemorrhoids plus the other pain.

The problem lasted for at least six months.  At some point near

the end of that time I tried taking saw palmetto.  About a month

after that, the pain subsided.  Did the saw palmetto help?  I

have no way of knowing.  It may have been a pure coincidence.

If I were your husband I think I would try all the home remedies

that might help with hemorrhoids and/or prostatitis.  These might

include warm baths, Preparation H, ibuprofen, and saw palmetto.

I'd also be patient.  If injury and inflammation are involved, it

could take a long time to heal.

Best of luck with it.
