Guest guest
I think I thread went around on this recently but I don't have time to look through the archives. I have been taking 2 Oxycodone every 6 -8 hours for the last few weeks. Historically you could set a watch to my bowels, no more. I have tried Mirilax but it's only been mildly successful. Any suggestion on other OTC or prescription medications for constipation? Emerson
Guest guest
Try a stool softener. Take it with your evening meal. It is safe and gentle. Louis. . . Guest guest
Hi I found senacot tobe helpfulto me To: ProstateCancerSupport Sent: Sunday, November 13, 2011 9:43 PMSubject: Re: Constipation I just had prostate surgery on November 2. My catheter comes out tomorrow. Regarding constipation, remember that Colace is not a laxative. I am a registered dietitian and I suggest you use a fiber type laxative that will provide bulk to the stool which can stimulate the colon to contract and expel the stool. The Colace can be taken to facilitate easier passage of the appropriately formed stool. The biggest problem I have is getting rid of the air that they pumped into my abdomen. It is painfully slow to expel. > > > Â > >Try a stool softener. Take it with your evening meal. Guest guest
Any of the fiber products such as Fibercon or Metamucil. However, for me the best item has been raisin bran cereal. I take it with the stool softener. If you really need help, 100% bran is even more effective but not as tasty. You could ask your wife to make muffins from 100% bran.Good luckHarry To: ProstateCancerSupport Sent: Monday, November 14, 2011 8:05 AM Subject: RE: Re: Constipation Harry, Can you recommend a specific product?
