Guest guest
This sounds like management science and not medical science ! Management science has evolved into a decision has been made and now support it with any info you can ! I watched a friend die from "waitful watching" ! The cancer got in his spine and he had a few lucid days thereafter ! The truth will set us free but only if we can get it ! Its getting to the point where each American had better learn as much practical medicine as possible ! I checked with a private lab and wanted some testing done but was told other tests had to be done first ! I was as usual paying for this lab work myself without insurance or doctor orders and told they weren't allowed to do the tests for possible latent effects of tick bites. I knew that was the case with insured testing ! Its shocking when you realize that our medicine in the US is no longer available even when you pay for ! I watched the movie on Burzynski on netflix and that was interesting too ! Guest guest
I lost a good friend to prostate cancer about 8 years ago after it got in his spine ! As a result When my doctor reported my PSA was up I had a private lab run the test for about $35 instead of the 175.00 or so normal channels charge . Negotiating price is one thing but Denying the screening is like denying breast exams ! Its a matter of principle, integrity, morality , and character ! NO one should be denied this test ! No one should be in a position to dictate sound medical practice and freedom in the US ! Guest guest
I find the PSA controversy interesting. First if you as an individual want to get a PSA test there is nothing to stop you. You can get it done with an ink blot test at ZRT labs and others. I live along the Space Cost in Florida and we have an open lab available ... cost $10 no scrip needed. You get the results the next day, and you don't have to kiss ass to get it done. I think the real problem is with doctors that will order PSA tests automatically just to cover their ass (CMA- syndrome) Then if anything is above the norm they go for biopsies and then RP or Radiation or hormone treatment and on and on. It's hard to blame the doctor since he can do it right 1,000 times and if he does it wrong just once his ass has had it. Experience has shown me that in any law suit the Lawyers always win ! We as individuals should (but most don't) think for ourselves. Do the research ! Read all the pub-med articles you can and pick a plan of action. A talk with any given doctor is not much help if any. He throws all his attitudes and misconceptions plus he is usually behind on the science and latest information because he is too busy working. He doesn't have time to do the study needed. The 15 minutes he spends with you is the total time he even thinks of you and your situation. You as a patient whose life depends on it should be spending a large part of your time doing the research. After all no matter what a doctor recommends they always say "It's up to you to make the final decision" (another CMA standard statement) Henry To: ProstateCancerSupport From: okiedokietoday@...Date: Thu, 24 Nov 2011 02:35:55 -0800Subject: Re: PSA controversy rages in the USA I lost a good friend to prostate cancer about 8 years ago after it got in his spine ! Guest guest
That's it Henry, it's up to you and in the final analysis, that's all it's all about. All the government is doing in this case is getting out of the position of recommending something that if fraught with a lot of questions and uncertainty. All they have done is simply bow out of the equation. You can have all the PSA tests you want whenever you want. The government is not going to deny you from getting one, they are just no longer going to be in the business of recommending that you do. Yes, it's all up to you. You decide. Guest guest
The problem is it's not just prostate cancer but virtually every illness or disease imaginable that an individual would have to keep up on. How much, for example, do you know about cancers of organs other than the prostate, different types of heart disease, diabetes, kidney problems, stroke, pneumonia, aneurisms, and on and on and on? It's not possible to be aware on all fronts. The ability to detect and diagnose illness is one the two major reasons for the development of the profession of medicine (the other being, of course, to treat illness). An average individual simply cannot be informed about everything relating to his physical well-being. - In ProstateCancerSupport , Henry wrote: > > > I find the PSA controversy interesting. > > We as individuals should (but most don't) think for ourselves.
