Guest guest
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/07/health/07prostate.htmlAm totally confused by this decision and the studies results mentionedas it seems to be counter to so much of what have read before.(though I realize this controversy is not new, its just that this decision isby an influential federal panel)Also, isn't it the case that most men who discovered they had pca, whether advanced or not quite as advanced, discovered itstarting with the psa, rather than just going in for a biopsy one dayor other newer tests - and thus they were viewed up until then as healthy men(as relates to pca) - yet this decision would affect people like them as well as those who had no pca ?And I guess its confusing reading that some studiesmentioned seem to infer that psa is not helpful since many pca treatmentswon't work anyway and thus why risk the side effects it thats the caseor that many pca cases will not end up harming the person cause theywill pass away before the pca does. Thus as someone just having finished treatment, its not happy reading in this regard.again I know these kind of discussions/disagreements with psa and treatment approachhave gone on for a while, but its just that am paying lots more attention to it now.Ken
