Guest guest
Hi Folks, I'll try to make this short, but thanks to the people who gave me the names of doctors at Mass. General for our second opinion because my husbands' urologist wanted to do slavage surgery. We got a multi appointment where we met with Dr. Mathew head of medical onloncology,,Dr. Dahl and Zietman. They wanted more tests to prove that the cancer was back like our doctor told us. She based her findings on the Prostacint Scan alone. My husband had all the tests and they all came out negitive. Chuck,,,I know you will probably not agree but they told us that we have to watch the PSA and if it continues to climb they will do further testing. But all three agreed that he is still in remission,,gee I love that word. So I remain hopefull and all we can do is pray that it stops climbing,,, the PSA is 0.80 right now. So we just watch and wait. I have to continue to think positive because if I don't I'll go crazy waiting to see if the other shoe drops. But I do want to thank all who helped, gave advise and those who prayed for my husband. I guess that's all I can do is pray right now. But you folks helped me so much..some responed and told me NO SALVAGE SURGERY...and to seek other opinions. To think we were so close to having the surgery...and my husband's life would have changed forever. The surgeon, Dr. Dahl is a great surgeon I'm told,,,he was the one who spoke first and he said that salvage surgery should be our last resort. So you see if it wasn't for this group we probably would have had the surgery..And Chuck, I have to thank you for all your kind words and good advice but I no on somethings you may not agree and that's okay. I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers and I'll keep you posted. Best Wishes to All, Sheila

It took four years after radiation for my PSA to get much below that. But it did get below and I've gone 8 years so far (knock on wood) without a recurrence. It may be time to change urologists. Good luck. Alan
