Guest guest
Welcome, Joe! Lenore and 3D To: ProstateCancerSupport Sent: Sunday, March 11, 2012 11:50 AM Subject: joining the prostate cancer group I would like to get permission to join the prostate cancer group. I have been watchful waiting for several years and over time my PSA level has reached a level of 8.2. I had a prostate biopsy last week and am seeking information on what I may expect and learn what others have done concerning this problem. Any discussion would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much, Joe Owens
Guest guest
Wecome Joe. I hope your biopsy is negative and says you don't need to be in the group, but if you do, we'll all certainly provide whatever guidance we can. My first piece of advice is to take a digital or tape recorder with you to the doctor's office when you go to get the biopsy results and record what he says, because if it's bad news you won't remember much of what he says after that. Explain that's why you want to record. None of the doctors I consulted objected when I explained that. Also, take your spouse or partner with you too as another set of ears and to think of the questions you won't think of under the stress of the moment. Guest guest
Adding to those comments, I would insist on a copy of the lab report for the biopsy, positive or negative.
