Guest guest
Can you enlighten us as to what you are talking about? Like providing the papers that describe what that “cancer cure” is all about? Always as close as the other end of your computer to help address any prostate cancer concerns. Guest guest
Sorry for the mis-spelling. Its Kanzius and Google will have endless Webs on the 99% cure rate procedure > > Can you enlighten us as to what you are talking about? Guest guest
> > To: ProstateCancerSupport > Subject: Kanzious cancer cure > > Can anyone enlighten me as to why this cancer cure is ignored by patients, > doctors and the world? Let me begin my analysis of what Kanzius did with the standard disclaimer. I'm not a doctor or even a scientist, just a layman with a lot of interest in science. What I have to say is hardly authoritative. But I love to study and talk about biology so, if you can stand it, I'll offer you some thoughts on the subject. I read the CBS news article that Chuck found. It appears that what Kanzius was attempting to do is a version of what the cancer researchers call " targeted therapy " . The idea is that you introduce something into the body that kills cells, but you target this killer on the cancer cells, and hopefully only on the cancer cells. Many versions have been proposed by many researchers. In the most popular version, some sort of antibody that is specific to a particular molecule on the surface of a particular type of cancer cell, is bonded to a chemotherapy molecule. A solution of the stuff is injected into the patient in the hope that most of the combined molecules in the treatment solution will find and bond to most of the cancer cells, and the chemotherapy drugs will kill the cancer. So far, the experiments have had very limited success. They've had enough success to warrant further research but I'm not sure how many have had enough success to make it into clinical trials and, to my knowledge, none have had enough success to win FDA approval. In another version (Alpharadin), a radioactive particle is bonded to a molecule that binds to growing bone. A solution of this is injected into the patient, most of the stuff finds its way to actively growing bone - which in a prostate cancer patient is often bone metastases, and the radiation kills the metastases. What Kanzius tried to do was find a way to bind metal atoms to cancer cells, then heat up the metal with radio waves, and cook the cancer cells. It was a great idea, but apparently he couldn't find any way to inject metal atoms into the body and just have them bind to the cancer, not everywhere else. To the best of my knowledge, nobody yet knows how to do that - though I should think it might be possible. So far so good. But then poor Kanzius descended into wishful thinking. The article says: " His idea was to zap the cancer in his blood, without injecting himself with metal particles. Kanzius had a theory - unproven - that somehow leukemia cells had a special, intrinsic property that would attract radio waves. But was it really working without any metal? " " ... somehow leukemia cells had a special intrinsic property that would attract radio waves. " Huh? Where did that theory come from? Did he have even a theory about what molecules in a leukemia cell would resonate at radio frequencies? Did he isolate leukemia cells and test them? It appears he didn't. He just had a feeling that it might work. So he crossed his fingers and zapped himself. What did he have to lose? He was going to die anyway. Later Dr. Curley did the experiment that Kanzius should have done had he known how. He isolated leukemia cells in a petri dish with no metal particles and exposed it to radio waves. There was no effect. Curley is continuing the research, attempting to find ways to attach metal particles to cancer cells. He thinks he's having some success. Will it be successful? My suspicion is, yes, eventually ways will be found to bind metal particles to specific types of cancer cells, and cook them with radio waves. Will it be a cure for cancer? Well, yes and no. What I expect to happen is that some people will benefit. Some will benefit a lot. Some a little. It will depend on the particular patient and the particular cancer. That seems to be what happens with almost all of the new treatments. Alan
