No idea about the adrenaline thing - mine is up most of the time, and actually, stress makes me flare. After a couple of Margarita's on the Rocks, I am feeling no pain. I was going to take up drinking, but darn it, MTX and booze don't mix. Rheumy and I made a drinking compromise though. He said "drink within reason" and don't drink on either side of the mid-week MTX. Becky
Guest guest
When you get frightened or angry, *nothing* hurts. Adrenaline blocks the pain. That's how boxers box, football players play through pain, etc. It's a protective response. If you've ever had a severe headache, and had a near miss when driving, you'll notice that momentarily, the headache is gone. Of course it comes back right away, but while that adrenaline is flowing, you don't feel it. Too much alcohol will make anything worse, eventually<g>. Alcohol itself won't make it worse, but it reacts with most meds that we take. ----- Original Message ----- From: NELLIESTAR@... Guest guest
I have never heard anything about an adrenalin lack and RA before. I am not thin (for sure!), have high blood pressure and low body temp. I had JRA with a wonderful 20 plus year remission. Guest guest
hey, Jacy! prior to my hip surgery, my blood pressure readings were around 149/100 and that upset me as I have always be on the low side...but the nurse who is coming here x3 weekly to check on me, post-op, tells me PAIN will cause the pressure to go up greatly = mine today is back down to 110 over 85 = just thought I'd share that with you...gentle hugs! Guest guest
My BP was always perfect...then I had chemo in 1999. It has been high ever since. Pain does cause BP to go up I know. My doctor confirmed that for me a few years ago. With my BP meds mine was nice and low; now with this flare it is up a bit to about normal. I don't like that...hopefully it will stay under control. That is just one more thing I don't want to have to worry about. A few years ago, in 2001, after my second cancer and surgery, my son asked me if I had forgotten to renew my warranty! Smart ass! It is renewed now until 2047. Full coverage.
