Guest guest
I tend to agree & other articles say about the same thing; maybe surgery is not the way to proceed, so I'm lending toward IMRT/IGRT therapy, but with any treatments we all run a risk. If we do nothing the cancer will surely spread. Right! or maybe antioxidants, a suger free diet, 0 fat & exercise will slow the growth for years to come. Ywal Come Back Now, Ya hear? Guest guest
" If we do nothing the cancer will surely spread. " Research has shown that this conclusion is not necessarily so and that numerous cancer events arise and disappear within the body on a somewhat regular basis. The issue is that medicine has not been able to reliably identify which are more aggressive, slow growing, and potentially benign in terms of future disappearance to a large extent. With prostate cancer there is a fairly well established grading system that combines with the age of the patient and other factors to help identify risk of aggressiveness. So, saying it will surely spread is not a valid comment with this and some other cancer diagnoses. Earlier I alluded to the possible inaccuracies in reading biopsies and how that might be skewed towards taking action versus inaction by providers, such a leaning could easily be unconscious and related to one's interests and specialty. I have had a few GPs offer the observation that seeing a specialist is a situation where the patient needs to be cautious as the specialist is focusing on finding something, that is, something to take action upon. It is an unconscious bias (I believe in most cases), just as a mechanic is likely to find something with your car or an engineer to find a " better " design. It is what they do and they lean to doing it.
