Guest guest
Hello all, I have wanted to post but have been running my butt off and don't know when I'll get another free minute. I want to respond to some of the posts that I have glanced at but if I stay up much longer tonight I may fall asleep sitting here. Kodey's PICC placement went well. I don't like the fact that this one is not sutured in. I had to do a dressing change already today b/c there was an unusual amount of bleeding after this one so it was pretty yucky under the Tegaderm. Anyway, I was soooooo nervous that the sucker was going to just pull out not being tied down!!! I guess just be even more careful than I was before. He did have a harder time coming out of anesthetic. I think the older he gets, the harder it gets on him. They didn't give any nausea meds b/c of allergies so we had quite a bit of vomits after the surgery. He was in quite a bit of pain this time too so they gave a dose of Codeine at the hospital. They also did some heavy duty coiterizing (sp?) on g-tube while he was out for the stomach lining that was growing under the skin at the site so his belly is really tender. We are doing Tobramycin and Ceftaz q 8 hrs. I have a lovely little schedule of 5 am, 1 pm, and 9 pm. Yuck. I am not a good person at 5 am!!!! But this is what works best for school. I am going to try to send him to school tomorrow. I am scared to death to do this but I must at some point and he is doing well so we'll just see how it goes. He has been lectured for many hours on precautions he needs to take and I am very confident in him!! Blood draws are tomorrow. I am so dreading that. It's so hard with just me and the nurse trying to hold him down and then you have r looking at us like we're killing his poor brother! What are you gonna' do though? Anyway, I need to get to bed. Just wanted to let everyone know we did come home last night after the surgery and he is doing well. I am hopeing that nothing too nasty comes back in the deep sputum culture they took while he was out. We have already went from 2 weeks to 3 weeks b/c of symptoms I guess and the psuedo showing up again. Oh well. I feel it's better to be aggressive even if no one enjoys doing this stuff for the next month! Keep us in your prayers and maybe say a special one for my little one r b/c if that boy doesn't straighten up his attitude I think he'll be living in the shed!!!!!! Just kidding! Love to you all and God bless, mom of 2 boys Kodey 5yowcf, r 2yowocf
