Congrats Steve on completing your IMRT Treatments. Are you still on hormone treatment? Regards, T Last IMRT treatment was 5/17/12. Saw the Radiology Oncologist yesterday and he said I was doing great. Saw the Urologist today. He said the Post-Treatment PSA taken day before yesterday was 0.3 and that I was doing fantastic! See them both again in September/October.Steve Lyons

Great news, Steve!

I was diagnosed with Gleason 9 PCa in 2004, I had IMRT (38 sessions) plus Lupron/Casodex for 15 months, then Lupron for another 15 months. My PSA came down to 0.20 or less and has stayed there. It's now over eight years later and I'm feeling fine.

DEAR MANUEL! HAD YOUR CANCER SPREAD TO THE BONES? METASTIC AS MINE HAS? IVE HAD CASODEX FOR 18 MONTHS. INITIALLY

IT BROUGHT MY PSA SCORE DOWN TO 0.6 THEN TO 1.6 THEN LAST MONTH MY PSA SCORE WAS 17.4. MY ONCOLOGIST WANTS TO GIVE

ME A LOW DOSE 3X OF CHEMO THEN A STRONGER HORMONE THERAPY PILL. MY BONE CANCER HAS SPREAD MORE THAN IT WAS 1 YEAR

AGO. WHAT SAY YOU GUYS? DENNIS AKA MR BASEBALL.

Hi Dennis! No, they did not detect any metastasis by various scans, so my radiation treatment focused directly on the gland, plus adjacent lymph nodes. The reason we caught my aggressive cancer early was because I was getting myself tested (PSA plus DRE) every six months. I did this after my brother was diagnosed because I knew that meant my risk was then doubled - so I figured let's look for it more frequently. It pays off when you can be proactive in getting tested and treated.I say a pox on the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force that says not to bother with the PSA test!Manny R.
