Bob has an appointment 1/2 (thurs) for this Pet-scan, at OSU - which

this onc/doc there, ordered. We are hoping it will show better than

the cat-scan, the size (?) of the mass in the colon, and the mets on

the abdomin area, since Bob couldn't take the shot (with iodine and

such ?) for contrast along with the barrium drink, for the catscan

tests, due to his being allgic to shellfish. Last tues in Nov. -26th &

Dec. 3rd, and missed next two sessiions due to low white blood cell

count. Now taking a shot a day of newprigin (sp?) until next tues for

third chemo treatment, - then thurs for this petscan.

When made the appt. the scan person asked if the doc knew Bob had

started chemo, and we said yes. Guess that might make a dif in the

results?? (anyone know of how much, and what??)

Thanks, Betty

(not related to above, but on scams and more....copy.....> >H2o2: IV

Yup, you got it. H2O2 can be

IV'd directly into a vein. Did any

> know this?

Yes. And it's quackery. Pure, unadulterated quackery.

H2O2 is hydrogen peroxide (as I'm sure all of our readers know.) It's

on a number of " quackwatch "

sites, including sites for AIDS advocacy, hospices, etc.

html

The FDA labels it one of the cruelest bits of snake oil science that

defrauds the desperate:

http://www.thebody.com/fda/quackery.html

So why is it " snake oil science? "

H2O2 rather quickly disintegrates into H2O and O. In the air, the O

connects with another O and

becomes O2... the bubbles that appear when you pour hydrogen peroxide

over the wound. H2O2 on a

wound is there to kill the " ANoxic bacteria " -- bacteria that can't

live in air. The tetanus bacteria is an

anoxic organism, as are many others that cause us to be ill. That's

why a good, safe, old home remedy (or

quick sterilization of an object) is to pour H2O2 on a wound when we

cut ourselves. That isn't quackery.

In the body, the free oxygen molecule is hunting around for things to

grab onto. If it grabs onto another

O molecule, you start getting bubbles of oxygen in your blood. This

is not very good for you... and can

kill you (it's called " oxygen embolism. " ) And rather than helping,

take a look at conclusions from one

medical study (a REAL study, not " anecdotal evidence from Joe's

sister's cousin's dentist " ): " The

present study clearly demonstrates that H2O2 acts as a carcinogen. "

Yes. It *causes* cancer.

(interesting and slightly technical article from Canadian cancer

agency:

http://www.bccancer.bc.ca/PPI/UnconventionalTherapies/HydrogenPeroxide

..htm )

pure.

I'd be concerned if my household drank the stuff. Here's a news item

(one of many) where a 2 year old

died from drinking H2O2:

http://www.hcrc.org/ncahf/newslett/nl16-5.html#ingestion

It goes all fizzy in your stomach. This *can* produce an oxygen

embolism... and that's what the child died from. Other children have

suffered strokes and other damage from oxygen embolism and oxygen in

the tissues.

Bottom line: this " safe treatment " has killed and harmed a number of

children in the past few years and it's a known cancer-causing agent.

However, it's great for external use and for quick (but not efficient)

sterilization of objects.

I'll stick with bottled water, thanks.

(and as to the " doctors and drug companies just want money and are

blocking the treatment " argument I see so often -- if it WORKED, the

doctors and drug companies would be lining up to give the

treatment. They'd get your money, and they would NOT get sued out the

wazoo for patient deaths.)
