The Faculty and Topics include: Mark Scholz, MDImmunotherapy (Sunday) Mark Scholz, MD, is medical director of Prostate Oncology Specialists in Marina del Rey, Calif., and executive director of the Prostate Cancer Research Institute. Dr. Scholz received his medical degree from Creighton University, and completed his internal medicine internship and medical oncology residency at the University of Southern California Medical Center. Dr. Scholz is co-author of the popular book Invasion of the Prostate Snatchers: No More Unnecessary Biopsies, Radical Treatment or Loss of Potency. Mark Moyad, MD Moderator (Saturday & Sunday) Mark Moyad, MD, is /Pokempner Director of Complementary & Alternative Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical Center, and moderator for the 2012 Prostate Cancer Conference. Dr. Moyad received his medical degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine, and is the primary author of over 60 medical articles. Duke Bahn, MDActive Surveillance & Focal Therapy (Sunday)Duke Bahn, MD is medical director of the Prostate Institute of America in Ventura, California. Dr. Bahn’s specialties include the early detection and staging of prostate cancer using color-Doppler ultrasound. Certified by the American Board of Radiology, Dr. Bahn spent more than twenty years at Crittenton Hospital Medical Center in Michigan. He earned his medical degree from the Catholic University School of Medicine in Seoul, and completed his residency at Wayne State University. C. Blasko, MDWhat the Heck Do You Do with a Tiny Cancer? (Saturday) C. Blasko, MD, is a radiation oncologist based in Seattle, Wash. Dr. Blasko earned his medical degree from the University of land School of Medicine and completed postgraduate training at the Maine Medical Center. He was professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Washington until 1998, and practiced at the Seattle Prostate Institute until 2007. Lori Buckley, PsyDIssues of Intimacy (Saturday) Lori Buckley, PsyD, is a therapist at Dr. Lori Buckley & Associates based in Pasadena, Calif. Dr. Buckley is a licensed psychologist and sex therapist with extensive training and experience in relationship and sexual issues. Dreicer, MDTreating Prostate Cancer that has Metastasized (Saturday) Dreicer, MD, is chairman of the Department of Solid Tumor Oncology at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Dreicer received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He is a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Clinical Oncology, the New England Journal of Medicine's Journal Watch Hematology/Oncology and The Journal Of Supportive Oncology. Eugene Kwon, MDThe Coming Wave of New Treatment (Saturday)Surgery (Sunday) Eugene Kwon, MD, is professor of Urology & Immunology at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. Dr. Kwon earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Grinnell College, medical degree from Rush Medical College and completed his residency in urology at the University of Iowa. Dr. Lam earned his medical degree from the UCLA School of Medicine and has been specializing in prostate cancer treatment since 2001. Myers was a key player in creating AZT, Suranim, and Phenylacetate while working at the National Institutes of Health. Former cancer director at the University of Virginia, Myers opened the American Institute for Diseases of the Prostate (www.prostateteam.com) in 2002 to provide men with the kind of comprehensive care that saved his own life. Steinberg, MDRadiation (Sunday) Steinberg, MD, is chair of radiation oncology at the Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Steinberg earned his medical degree in 1976 from the USC School of Medicine, and completed his residency in Radiation Oncology at the UCLA School of Medicine. Strum, MDHormone Therapy (Sunday) Strum, MD, is a medical oncologist based in Ashland, Oregon, and co-founder of the Prostate Cancer Research Institute. He has been consulting with patients in Oregon since 2003, and is author of the book A Primer on Prostate Cancer: The Empowered Patient’s Guide, published by Life Extension in 2002.
