Guest guest
May I suggest something to consider for the future for those with sufficient energy who may be members of a large church congregation that also includes its own K-12 grades school? It would be great if cancer patients or survivors were to encourage their church to support a fund-raiser for “All Cancers Awareness and Support.” This could be done by the church’s sports and/or Arts activities arranging some form of demonstration of expertise in each sport or art on a specific date and time and the congregation urged to attend and support this fund-raising activity. Donations could be “In Memory of” or “In Support of” family or friends having experienced or currently experiencing any form of cancer. Funds donated could then be distributed to those forms of cancer that a church committee determines have had an effect on members of the congregation. These would likely include Prostate, Lung, Breast, Ovarian, Cervical, Kidney, Pancreas, Leukemia, and other cancers. I’m sure this committee could determine not-for-profit organizations for these cancers in the local and adjacent communities to be donated these funds. Also to be considered for fund distribution could be to area hospitals to be specifically designated for use to care for those cancer patients without health insurance or insufficient funds for necessary cancer treatment. This would be somewhat of an undertaking, but certainly for a very needy cause. Consider this as one form of input to raise funds for cancer awareness. We know there are many other methods to raise funds and we’ve seen/read of many walk/runs, motorcycle runs, sports activities, and others. This is just tossing in another consideration.
