Subject: Re: Butch's advice

Hi Lynn,

There are many of us that beg to differ; including some of the

Turkish farmers I have been in contact with through a Turkish friend

of mine here in Montreal. I don't want to start anything but there

are always two sides to a story. Those of us that are wise to him

know better.

Yours Aromatically,

,

Please don't try to defame good people on this list. How many lists have

you been banned from because of your false advertising and advise?

You are right, there are always two sides, right and wrong.

Please leave your barbs about Butch off the list.

Mucle tone

I own a commercial gym so I get the toned question a great deal. A typical

comment is " I do not want any muscle i just want to be toned " . What this

person is referring to is muscle to a light degree with moderate bodyfat

levels. There is no such thing as a tissue called tone tissue. You want

muscle tissue or fat tissue.

ThankYou,

Army Doc Uses Smoke and Mirrors (Was: The Army and Women)

Carruthers poted an article:

> ARMY FITNESS REGIME 'PUTS FEMALE SOLDIERS AT RISK'

>

> AN Army doctor says the health of female soldiers is

>being jeopardised by new regimes demanding men and

>women are equally fit.

There are at least two ways to " equalize " people:

force them to attain set standards; or lower the

standards.

<snip>

> He argues that " health and safety guidance... Has

>been overlooked in the interests of meeting equal

>opportunity legislation " .

An argument I will not make here, although it makes

nice fireside conversation, is: wheter " EEO "

legislation precludes people with high potentials from

attaining high levels of achievement, especially in a

military environment where most activities are group

orientied.

> Until 1998, female army recruits were not expected

>to reach the same level of physical fitness as men.

<snip>

Nor are they today. The U.S. Army Physical Fitness

Test requires soliders within a given age group to

perform push-ups, sit-ups, and a two-mile run. You

are given a score for the number of PU and SU you

perform. Then you get a score for your two-mile run

time. The solider has two minutes to perform as many

PU or SU within two minutes as he or she can. In

almost every age category, women must perform a

similar amount of SU as men. However, they have to

perform 25% fewer PU and run the two-mile run 25%

slower, to obtain the same " score. " That is, for each

PU, SU, and six-second speed increase, a male gets

awarded one point. For women the composite scores are

adjusted from the " raw " number of PU and the two-mile

run.

There are also different height and weight standards.

See Army Regulation 600-9 (AR 600-9) for these

differences. You can refer to the Army PT manual (FM

22-10) for information regarding the " equal "

standards. See www.usapa.army.mil for many military

training publications.

Granted, women and men, in principle hike the same

(now reduced) distances in road marches. I say " in

principle, " because it is rather common for female

recruits to suddenly strike ill or injured the day

before such hikes. Or the men often have to carry the

rucksacks of women who " fall out " of the road march

formation.

> Since 1998, soldiers have been selected on a 'gender

>free' principle, where the same physical tests are

>applied to male and female army applicants, both

>sexes undergo identical training, and the women are

>expected to reach the same fitness levels as the men.

As an officer responsible for training and equipping

soldiers, I often meet frustration since rough

training is often a great motivator for the best

soldiers. However, in a gender mixed environment, the

training can not be so rough. Overall, the standards

have been lowered quite a bit. So much in fact that

the baddest blokes would prefer to get out of the

military altogether.

That is the irony of the situation. Namely, soldiers

the miltary need most usually want out. This is

because the training is often a joke and the PC

environment is stiffling. Thus, before you know it

(and I think we're nearly there), you have an army of

the lowest caliber. How many body bags it will take

before people wake up is something I hope we never

have to learn.

Don,

Thanks for such a concise explanation! I feel like I'm acutally learning

something useful!

Most of the vegetables and fruits do not contain the high content of

phytochemicals that are more commonly found in herbs. Most of what is

found in the majority of fruits and vegetables is organic minerals,

vitamins, water and lots of fiber.

One more question anyone grow chipotle peppers? where did you get them?

I was at Waldoch Farms this weekend in Lino Lakes and I thought that they

carried them, though I'm not positive. I was amazed at how many different
