Guest guest
Awh Judy, this is great news. Not great news that you have been so ill from all this, but great news that you have discovered what was going on for you. And the weight loss too, that's a real bonus!! Who knows maybe now you might loose even more weight, I did when I got off all my meds  It was not so easy to wean off them though. Not that I was addicted to them, not in the same way I was addicted to carbs, diet coke, cigarettes etc, but with all my addiction stuff and all my emotional stuff and just sheer confusion, with all that was going on in my life back then, I simply could not see the woods from the trees, and it was all just too much for me to even try to get off my meds  I found writing stuff down really helped. It gave me a reference to refer to and it also made it far more clear to me what was going on and where best to make changes  For me it was definately the addiction and emotional problems that I had that were holding me back, and i kept my focus, my efforts here, and as this recovered I found it really easy to get off the meds. I just gave up one, waited about a month and gave up another waited a month and gave up another, but I would not have been able to do this had I not put the diet in place got the supplements in place and also give up the addictions  Anyway, although I was low carbing and doing everything necessary to get well, it was not until I got off all my meds too, that the thing with the weight started to get right. I had in these first two years (on the Atkins Diet) managed to give up my addictions and sorted my emotions out and even lost about 30lb, but this had been very slow and laborious. But once off the meds the other 30lb or so came off very easily and without craving, fatigue or anything, which I had had to put up with when still on the meds  I do now, still need to loose some more weight. My weight loss has slowed again and I do know why. It is because I have added raw dairy to my diet. The dairy has not had any other ill effect on me. I am certain I can tolerate it but since adding it I have only lost a few pounds.  I know I have a choice with this I could give the dairy up again and it would be much easier for me to loose this last 20lb that I need to get off. But the weight is not going back on, I am not gaining and every few months or so a couple of pounds do come off so I am leaving it. I feel I do better with dairy than I do carbs and so having the dairy in my diet does give me more meal choices. But anybody here who is struggling with their weight, they might want to look and see if taking dairy out of their diet makes a difference, we do need the calcium and magnesium if we do  Anyway, well done Judy, I am so glad you know its the meds. Often when I talk to folk over the internet I can see it is the meds, but it is so hard to tell folk this. If I tell them do not take your meds and something happens to them I am going to feel so bad, plus it is wrong for me to say this to folk because I am not medically trained. So the best I can say is get journaling and decide for yourself. It is surprising how much folk do see for themselves when they write things down  Thank you for sharing this Judy, you are a inspiriation  Love Joanne To: LDNforFibro <LDNforFibro >; Fibromyalgia Support Group <Fibromyalgia_Support_Group >; fibromyalgiacured Sent: Monday, 3 September 2012, 15:41 Subject: Morning update  Thought I’d give a little update on my drug situation. On Friday I woke up barely able to breathe so I called the doctor’s office. They got me in and did an EKG—normal, blood pressure 154/92—slightly high, weight—gained 25 lbs in 2 1/2 months. The Cardiologist I saw said I was having Congestive Heart Failure and prescribed Lasix and Potassium. When I went to pick up the prescription, the office had called in the potassium and not the Lasix. And of course by then the office was closed until Tuesday because of the Labor Day Holiday. The pharmacist said I could go to the emergency room, but I decided not to. I had suspected that it was a new drug that I’d been given around the beginning of May, even though the doctor and nurse both told me it “couldn’t†be the drug. So I haven’t taken that drug since then and I’m breathing normally today and I feel so much better. I also weighed myself this morning and I’d already lost 5 lbs in just 3 days. It will be interesting to hear what the doctor says when I call them tomorrow. By the way, this isn’t the first time I’ve had a bad reaction to a drug. I have a list nearly 2 pages long of drugs I’ve tried and have had bad reactions to. Lucky me. Guest guest
Thanks Joanne. The doctors had me scared after I had my stroke, so I thought I should do what they said. I’ve been reading a lot of things lately, though, and have been gradually trying more and more natural things and I agree that I am feeling better. Actually, I’m not on too many things that I would need to get off of, just thyroid and high blood pressure meds. And writing stuff down is always a good idea. I have done that in the past but not lately. I’ll see if I can find my book that I write in.
