I promised a few people that when i found out what the next step was regarding my the stones in my ducts, I would let them know. I saw my gastroenterologist Wednesday. I am having the stones removed on December 4th. (i'm one of the 3-5% who develope stones even WITHOUT a gallbladder) My GI also thinks that I may be one of the 5% of people who developpes scarring in the ducts because of past ERCP's, and my ducts might be narrowed from this scarring, and causing a lot of my problems. The last ERCP show's evidence of this as well, as the ducts only partially filled with the dye. He said if this is the case, and that I may end up having to have a stent inserted into the duct to keep it open, so that when other stones form they won't get stuck there. I'm not looking forward to having the procedure done, because the other 3 times I've had it I've developped acute pancreatitis and had to be hospitalized. ( I was told 1 in 500 people get this complication, but I think it's higher than that.) But hopefully not this time. Anyhow, i will let you know how everything goes afterwards. I hope everyone is doing good...better than I am lately anyhow! Take care Shay (Shana) >> Dear Shay, you would have to be one of the 3%to 5% of the people who develop stones without a gallbladder. I am sorry for all that you are going thru. I hope the ercp doesn't give you acute pancreatitis again. I have scaring in my ducts also due to stents. I am so sorry I ever let a doctor put a stent in my small duct. Does your doctor intend to put a stent in your duct permanently? I was told that they cannot put in a permanent stent. Let me know how you are doing and what the doctor has done for you. I will be praying for you Shay. Shirley

I too developed acute pancreatitis after my last ercp. The doctors think this is a normal thing and to be expected. At least, that is the idea I got from my doctor's visit. Take care until then! Be well, I also believe it is higher than 1 in 500.
