Guest guest
Hi Bruce, I am only using oxygen when I am up and about. I currently use it at 2.5 when I am shopping, cleaning, etc. and 4 when I am exercising. I am up to 2 miles on the treadmill and it takes me about 40 minutes- do you think the small tank will last for this? Is the pulse a lot louder than the continuous? I think we should do an oxygen database to see what everyone is using. By the way, as you are ready to choke your pulmomologist's nurse today, mine finally came through for me and figured out the problem with Apria. My doctor was writing all three items (concentrator, e-tanks, and m-6 tanks) on the same prescription and Apria only fills the top item-she needed a different prescription for each! Insanity, insanity! Hope you have better luck with yours- Sarcoid/PF 3/2006 California Re: Continuous vs Pulse : > > > > > > > > > > > > Well, actually not quite my story today. > > > > > > > > > > > > Yesterday started experiencing some lung pain and my inspired > > > > volume > > > > > > was down as were sats on exertion. Guest guest
I think the pulse will be fine for shopping and such. As for exercising on the treamill, I use stationary as I have a treadmill at home for that reason and the fact it gives me no excuse not to use it. I've never tried a pulse for the treadmill. However, if 4 or so was enough on a pulse for the treadmill then a tank would last long enough. I'd personally still try to keep and E tank and roll it in for treadmill if possible. Maybe next time I get on the treadmill I'll try a pulse and see how it does. Well, the pulse isn't as loud as a concentrator or something but it's louder than a continuous E tank which makes virtually no noise. Basically every breath (20 a minute is typical), the pulse will make a hissing sound. I'm guessing for home you use a concentrator-for cleaning and such? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Well, actually not quite my story today. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Yesterday started experiencing some lung pain and my > > inspired > > > > > > volume > > > > > > > > was down as were sats on exertion. Guest guest
, I have similar oxygen demands and while pulse works for daily activity my doctor told me it was not going to work while exercising or at higher elevations. For exercise and elevation I needed to be on continuous flow. The pulse sensing does not give enough concentrated oxygen because of the delay for the pulse while exercising. I worked around my problem by going to a D tank and and a tank backpack when I am outdoors exercising and hiking in the mountains. I use a concentrator at home on my treadmill and run it at 4 liters. Hope you have better luck with yours- Sarcoid/PF 3/2006 California Re: Continuous vs Pulse : > > > > > >> > > > > > Well, actually not quite my story today.> > > > > >> > > > > > Yesterday started experiencing some lung pain and my inspired > > > > volume> > > > > > was down as were sats on exertion.
