Hello Group,

I posted to this group last year around February regarding my brother, Jack who

has PC. He's 54 YO, and has had radiation therapy. Then 6 mos. later had a PSA

of 2500, when he started hormone treatment w/ Cassodex and Trelstar. After a

year, and a PSA of around 500, the treatment was discontinued last April. I had

his PSA tested last month and with no treatment, he still has a PSA of 564. Last

April, he started losing blood to the point of almost dying due to complications

from radiation. This was corrected while in the hospital, and while there he

got MRSA, and had a tube w/ medication going directly to his heart for about 2

months. After a week in the hospital, he came to my home for about a week

before his 4th vertebra just broke w/out a fall. He had to go to a nursing

facility as he couldn't walk for several months. Everyone, inc. drs., had given

up hope for his life. Somehow, he has overcome all of this, and is now walking

and got over MRSA! He's as happy as can be in the facility. He enjoys

interacting w/ people as he has always led a lonely life with the brain damage.

He weighs around 200 lbs., and no one can believe that he has cancer, nor that

he is so happy. So, there is hope for anyone out there w/ PC! Maybe his brain

damage doesn't enable him to worry about all of his issues. I remember all of

the wonderful people that responded to me during this crisis, and I genuinely

appreciate the support. This is truly a wonderful group. I learned more here

than from all of his various doctors and medical personel. I quit posting

awhile back as I was so busy taking care of Jack, and then my husband died

suddenly from a simple day in/ day out surgery at the Mayo Clinic. He

apparently got an infection and died w/in a few days of this simple hernia

surgery. I will post whenever Jack has any other problems, but for now

everything is OK.
