Guest guest
A site I like with a lot of information about diet is http://arthritisinsight.com/living/diet/index.html I believe that some people with RA are benefited from one diet but not all people with RA. Also a different diet will benefit some people with RA but not all of them, and it will benefit some people who were not benefitted by the first diet. And there are some people with RA who have tried but never found a diet to benefit them. It is trial and error like most things with RA. I think the most likely way to find out what helps you is to do an elimination diet that I think involves limiting foods to a very few that seem to never cause adverse reactions, and after a couple of weeks to clean out your system, add in one or two foods a week to see if there is an adverse reaction. I have heard about this from Joe Hackett who posted a couple of the articles on the web site I mentioned. I haven't really tried to learn about it so I may be way off. God bless. ----- Original Message ----- From: aquaholicsgal Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Monday, November 01, 2004 6:23 PM Subject: Thanks on my Mobic questions Thank you all who answered my post. I've learned alot. You all explained things in terms I can understand. Been on my mobic now for a couple of days took samples over the weekend at 7.5 mg and started my actual prescription of 15 mg today. Have been light headed and dizzy all day also alot of pain. Went to the lab today and had 8 different tubes drawn and go back to my rheumy in 3 weeks. I'm also under a lot of stress at work - super busy- sure that doesn't help.I'm interested in the diet aspect some of you have been talking about. I'm terrible with eating. When I'm tired and rundown and stressed out I"ll eat thinking that will give me more energy but obviously its not!! This is a great sight. I'm so glad I found it because I don't know alot of people personally around my age 41 that have RA. Thanks all!!
Guest guest
Hi, Aquaholicsgal, I can only tell you what I avoid and what works for me... No cow's milk, no wheat, no caffeine, no sodas, occasional red meat. I drink only water. It sounds dull but I have little joint pain. I can now cheat a little every 5 days. In addition to changing diet I made more headway when I did antibiotic therapy using Minocin and Lodine(anti-inflammatory). Took about 6 months and I saw improvement. I was able to wean off prednisone and all other drugs. I have had RA for over 7 years now. Best of luck, Kay ----- Original Message ----- From: " aquaholicsgal " <aquaholicsgal@...> <Rheumatoid Arthritis > Sent: Monday, November 01, 2004 8:23 PM Subject: Thanks on my Mobic questions > > > Thank you all who answered my post.
