Guest guest
G'day Roy and welcome. You say the DRE (Digital Rectal Examination) " indicated a growth " Was this on the right side where the positive biopsy results were from? If that is the case then it would seem to be in your best interests to consider some form of therapy sooner rather than later. On the other hand, if the positive biopsy needles were from the opposite side of the gland from positive DRE finding, then it might be an idea to have another biopsy to explore the positive DRE information. If it is possible for your to have this under the guidance of an expert using the Color Doppler scans it might be beneficial for you in providing more information. The fact that there were so many positive needles (rather than your age) indicates the possibility of a fairly large tumour and would normally be contra-indicative for the choice of AS (Active Surveillance) I don't know if you have come across my website yet. It contains, amongst other things, the stories of over 1,000 men diagnosed with prostate cancer> The stories are indexed by age, PSA, Gleason and choice of treatment and you can find the index here http://www.yananow.org/exp_data.php?desc=All All the best Terry Herbert in Melbourne Australia Diagnosed ‘96: Age 54: Stage T2b: PSA 7.2: Gleason 7: No treatment.
